    Arts?
    Crafts?
    Health?

beauty looks the best, where available, but I should I ask for that cat to be set up or go for other more common ones?

A lot of directories have a suggest a new category so where possible ask for a new one to be created.

Oops, I missed your post, Misohoni!

Thanks, sounds good in general although sometimes it could be about the single hair dresser and not the hair salon/s.
Anyway it is a good suggestion for the salons.

    Thanks again!

As your sites seem to be Boston, MA based, you couldn't go wrong with a Boston>B&E category. Don't overlook the value of a related local listing - people search geographically for certain products/services.

Your suggestion sounds good Mister Charlie, but what do you mean by B&E?

    Thanks!

My apologies. B&E= Business and Economy

Each directory will have its own taxonomy, and categories may be named differently. The overall point being, regional listings may be a valuable point of reference for your site(s).

OK Mr Charlie, I've got to thank you very much again!

I'll look for the local listings or suggest them.
I think it would be great in my case!

    Thanks again! :)

I have submitted to a bunch of local (Long Island and NYC) directories, and have gotten some strong links from them. One has even placed my link on the home page for a while for being a "new addition".

    Works for me.
