Since you believe so much in democracy, is it acceptable for you if the people of Iraq decide to chose a religious government similar to Iran and start their own nuclear weapon development program since it is the will of the democratic government of Iraq?

Ah, yes. We did after all liberate most of Europe in WWII and much of Europe choose its own path, and own governments, most democracies without "Western Values" being forced on them.

Do keep in mind that like Rome, our country was not built in a day. It took years before a government was established here. Even after it was it took years before many took to it, and still more years before every state recognized it.

How long have we been in Iraq? Not that long in the overall scheme of things. It's gonna take time.

Of course the naysayers bitched about Reagan, and look at what he accomplished. I never would have thought that wall would have come down in my lifetime. Hollywood used to shove movies down my throat about how the Russians were coming. People built bomb shelters here. People were convinced the world was going to end. The decisions of one man changed all that. Like I said, the naysayers bitched about it. Those same SUV driving yuppies with their soccer stickers are now thankful for that, but still bitching about the present day madman they call Bush.

    Give it time.

going to create a democracy in middle east is a great and noble thing but honestly how many of you would sign up, or want your kids to sign up to die for those backward ass people.

I'm willing to bet none of you would sign up or want your kids to sign up, so basically you all of full of hot air.

If you wouldn't die for the cause they how can you ask anyone else to.

Saddam was dictator thug, who was totally secular he was not friends with muslim extremists, he often would kill muslim extremists becasue they where a threat to his power.

Both bad people but not the same the bad people.

Gtech you post links to right wing online circle jerks all you want but unitl you quote some real news sources, your arguments have no proof.

Sorry man, you are way off base, and your comparison is simply not a good one. This is not even a matter of Apples to Oranges. This is more like apples to earwigs. It is sickening to me that you have sunk so low as to compare abortion to women being stoned (not on drugs), raped, tortured, killed, covered up, not aloud to vote, voice an opinion, and on an on.

    God how sick.

Ah, well an overwhelming majority voted for him. Actually, more people voted for Bush than for any other president in the history of our country. There was nothing dodgy. The candiate the liberals wanted, lost. Bush won. It's pretty straight forward. You do not need to know much about American politics to understand that.

Do you watch any type of sports where you are? Usually there are two teams. One wins, one loses. Nothing dodgy, nothing complicated.

Really, a darker more dangerous place? Can you really prove that? Do you really believe that? We have not had a single terrorist attack in our country since 9/11, 2001. That is damn near 4 years! That is a long time considering there was a terrorist attack of some kind in our country every year Clinton was in office.

Look at the disrepectful way you talk about him, "Daddy's boy?". You don't like him. So be it. But to make false claims simply because you do not like someone is a bit childish don't you think?

Pay for what mistake? We are paying dearly in our country to insure you and others around the world continue to breath free air. I think a friggin thank you is in order once and while.

Darker place? Ha... Funny.... Thank you for the afternoon humor.

You are agian showing how much you don't know. At least try to learn something before you start posting about subjects that you know nothing about. Here is the history of woman situation in Iraq.

"Women have played important roles throughout Iraq's history. It was in the early years of secular Baathist socialism and early in Saddam Hussein's rule that women's status and rights were formally enshrined in legislation and treaties. In 1970, a new constitution nominally made Iraqi women and men equal under the law (although family law continued to favour men). Under Saddam Hussein, women's literacy and education improved, and restrictions on women outside the home were lifted. Women won the right to vote and to run for political office, and they could drive, work outside the home and hold jobs traditionally held by men. Before 1991, female literacy rates in Iraq were the highest in the region, Iraq had achieved nearly universal primary education for girls as well as boys, and Iraqi women were widely considered to be among the most educated and professional women in the Arab world."

Why is silly? What happens if that is what people want? Do you believe in democracy as long as they obey your government command?

Are you projecting your own values on others. Are you trying to say YOU wouldn't? I served my country for seven years. My son will be a senior this year and is considering doing the same.

You would make it all about the individual though, right? As if there aren't some who believe in their country and something bigger than themselves. Hate to burst you bubble bud, but there are many out there.

Fortunately we have evidence that shows otherwise, for those that won't accept the truth and hide behind a hidden agenda to convince us something else.

That's your problem, not mine. I'm not here to appease your "demands for proofs." You don't want to accept it because it goes against the message you want to communicate. If zarqawi being in iraq prior to 9/11 and helping in the plot to bomb Jordan with 20 tons of chemical weapons isn't good enough, I suggest you simply don't want to believe. What, you thought I was blind? Thirty seven connections. Count them or ignore them. Makes me no difference. Just tells me how closed minded and out of tune you are. Or tells me *something* else ;) eh?

If you compare Iraqi women to women in other countries in the mid-east, yes women in Iraq appear to have rights.

    They can drive legally
    Equal pay
    Equal opportunity to work
Their head (only) can be uncovered
They can serve in the military

HOWEVER They still were subject to honor killings, torture, execution, political repression, and numerous other human rights violations.

Nice try on that web site though. That is a UN funded propaganda site, and a bit over the TOP IMHO.

It works for me. It's their choice, right? It would just go to show that no matter how much you help *certain* people, they just can't get out of the 8th century mentality. But lets not lose hope yet. I know it would thrill you personally to see another muslim country have nuclear power, but let's see what happens ;)

Don't you execute women in USA? I thought USA was one of the few countries that still executed children.

Do keep in mind that in a democracy you set limits to how long leaders can govern (yes us westerners call it "govern", not RULE).

That said, you vote them out next time around. Either way, there is no way in hell he US will allow them to have a nuclear weapons program.

What the hell are you talking about man?

Would you rather we let people molest children, their own blood, and then murder them, then serve a few years in a nice jail only to be released to do it again.

    The air is thin...

He's trying to shoot for moral equivalency, again. See, he previously admitted he didn't believe in God and wasn't religious (kitman), but his anti-semitism and blatant support for certain things just keep exposing him :D

I swear I can't help but laugh when I read his posts!

I was once sickened by a conversation I had with a Saudi. We were both attending different booths at an exposition. We were in HK at the time and the waiters were running around like chickens with their heads cut off.

One poor girl spilled hot coffee on this arrogant guy´s hand and he said in his own coutry he could have her hand cut off for that. I said, in my country we would take you outside and kick your lights out for suggesting such a thing.

Couple of years later, I was in Thailand. There is a famous place (or was) called Nana Plaza. On one bar there is a sign which says something like ´We want to protect you from yourself, If you are from Saudi, don´t come in this bar., We respect your women as much as you do.´

I am not covered in fuzzy cotton wool. I have seen many things in my life, many of them desperately sad from many religions. But my problem with MIA and others in the thread is that you do not differentiate.

People are good and bad in every country, in every religion, in every caste, in every town, in every home.

It is the individuals you ought to be fighting. Not the term MUSLIM. Not people in your neighbourhood who most likely have fought tooth and nail to get there. Terrorists are beyond the pale, no matter what cause they are fighting.
