This are the questions: 1. Let's say you are sure that your site was penalized by google, because it disappeared from the first pages. How can you find out the reason why google penalized your website? 2. What can you do when your site is penalized by google? What can you do to remove the penalty and how long may take for your website to return in the first positions from search listing?
Sometimes it does not necessarily means you are penalized. Track out the problem whether it might be due to loss of backlinks, serp fluctuations or other reasons.
Well i have same problem , i just launched a new website www.jocurii.info 3 weeks ago , my keyword is Jocuri Masini i have lots of backlinks anchored with this keyword (building like 10-15 per day) my seo is perfectly fine my site is not spammy although all this i am ranked on page 46 on my keyword (jocuri masini) in google search. Allmost all my traffic comes from yahoo.com so i cant exactly say if i am penalized but thats what i think. Someone told me if i do major seo and template changes i might be penalized from google for a short period of time is that true ? And how can i fix this problem if you could help me i would appreciate it. With respect , A.Razvan
I will try everything possible to get the site back, if that is not possible, look for a better domain name and start a new and better site...
Serps are always jumping up and down, I would say continue building backlinks slowly, and update content, and you will eventually get your serps back but it does take time.
You do need to check to make sure your site is penalized and not just ranking lower than it had before. Google changes its rankings frequently and so you can't count on good rankings forever without constantly working to improve your site. Definitely go through the checklist on the site that tukarinfobispak posted. It will show you if your site is truly penalized. If you are penalized, you should go over Google's Guidelines at http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=35769 and pay particular attention to the section labeled "Quality Guidelines". Remove anything that even comes close to being a violation and then submit a Reconsideration Request through the Webmaster Tools console. Include all of the details of what you have done to bring your site back into compliance and your intention not to violate the Guidelines in the future. Good luck!
If it's a new website then it might become sandboxed by Google, which is a rank delaying filter applied for almost any new domain indexed in the search engine... you can also request a reinclusion via the webmasters tools, but i don't think it will make a difference! however, keep doing your regular stuff, adding content and building more quality links then just wait
Rankings dropping is not a guarantee of a penalty. If you haven't been cheating, you don't have a penalty.
If you are like me, then it's a duplicate content issue. I knew nothing about it, until now. So, ttp://mysite and ttp://www.mysite, etc, were evident. All I can say is, I was penalized and removed from Google and it's up to the person to figure out why. I looked at everything for a couple weeks, then I read some info on duplicate content. I can only say, investigate that aspect of your site. I ended up learning about 301 redirects and now use this on all my sites. I will also say, for whatever reason I've been removed from google image search, which has cut my traffic by about 50% or more, which again, I have no idea why I'm off the image search. I'm investigating that now.
It all depends on what happened and the factor that caused your site to get banned. If it was because you were doing illegal or fraud activities, then it might take months. I suggest contacting google support directly.
I've no idea how my site wintheuklottery.com hit a penalty. Had number 20 for national lottery then disappeared. My guess is i bought a 1000 blog link pack with a rotated article, no idea how one recovers from that or even if that is what the penalty is!
Sites always return to the positions they deserve... Temporary hiccups shall occur, dependent on your dealings etc, but you must always stay clean and add value to your site... and it'll be fine...
Just two additions: First: The Webmastertools should inform you _if_ your website got banned. Second: Google is providing a brief form for this, check out for "Reinclusion request" And check your refs to see if a google quality rater has visited your site. Good luck.
TBH I didnt realise u were supposed to send a reinclusion if u hit a penalty. I know what did it, it was buying an 1000 blog post on here, me being impatient and wanting to get top 10. Sent my request now, may take months to come back into the results but if all is not lost, I'm quite content thanks guys
