Just read our Robs sticky. Thread here. It needs to be more specific. The way that is worded means that pretty much anything in P&R can be construed as a personal attack and therefore anyone can be banned without any warning whatsoever. Is this the end for P&R?

That's exactly what I was thinking. Better not disagree with any religion. Don't criticize any political belief. If you are angry at the Burma government for beating down buddhist monks, you should probably put a disclaimer saying "I am sure the Burma government actually has some great people in it." It sounds like we are no longer able to debate, but simply sit around and agree with eachothers post. I think they just took the soul out of this forum. Probably won't be visiting DP much anymore.
The Politics and Religion forum was ONLY started as it's own section to get all the topics out of the other sections so people didn't have to read them. So if this section dies, fine with me... there are plenty of forums out there that are actually about politics and religion.
It's all about showing respect for other people's opinions. The P&R threads were getting out of hand and I personally think it's a wise move. Some were loading people up for an ambush and it got quite nasty in some threads. Of course, freedom of speech has it's points, personal attacks are something completely different. Why not put a disclaimer on the P&R forum? I enjoy a lot of jolly banter with like minded DP peeps in this P&R forum, we disagree a lot but it is all light hearted fun. If you wanted to you could pretty much ban every regular contributor to this P&R forum with that new rule. If a topic is totally out of hand then delete it, I have been here for many months now and built a good rapport with some nice members here, even the peeps I don't agree with we still hold some form of mutual respect for each other. I am sure that some of my adversaries like GTech, Mia, lorien and ly2 amongst others will even agree with me on this one. That is what I would do but I'm only a member so my expert opinion will not count for much, I'm just offering an option. Anyone coming into a P&R forum and not expecting there to be some attrition probably shouldn't even visit IMHO. That's my 2 cents.
I think the mods here are wise enough to exercise good judgment. Anyway, I am going to take a sabbatical and stay away from the P&R forum for a while. I am sure very few people will miss me here. Too much time and energy wasted for nothing. The regular people here have pre-conceived notions and nothing that you say can make them change their minds or see the light. This is a pointless debate of the deaf.
The quality of the moderation of P&R has never been in doubt. A couple of contentious posts might have caused this, I know who the main instigator is (generating hate posts and to be honest we do not need Sherlock Holmes to figure that one out ) but I have made my opinion clear on how we can move forward so that everyone can continue to enjoy this fantastic webmaster forum. I'm off to bed now, I've said my piece.

Why would Satan spill punch? Considering he can smash through walls, get kids to drink cavity inducing sugar water, and is massive... I'd think he'd have drink spillage down pat.
