I have been having the problem of Apache2 hang (lock up), but one thing that I don't quite get is this; what really causes the entire Apache2 to hang or lock up? It's possible that I wrote a lousy code and it's making a loop. It's possible that web service is not working properly and the code that uses it takes forever to process. There are probably other similar cases. However, they should just isolate themselves. They shouldn't just hang or lock up the entire Apache2 (all other websites), should they? What can really cause (the entire) Apache2 to hang or lock up? (A copy of error_log is available upon request. A copy of httpd.conf is available upon request. Screenshots of top command, ps command, etc. are also available upon request.)
A lockup of Apache is strange and I've not personally come across it. Do you have any other problems in your system? My old server was having random lock ups like that and the fix was replacing one stick of RAM. If you still think it's apache related maybe you should try the usenet if you get no useful answer on here. Sorry I cant help more.
i had problems before with apache2 it would just randomly shut down every so often reinstalling it did the trick
yes USED plesk i installed PHP 5.1.1 / MuSQL5 / Apache2 plesk is not woking now, but no worries im using command line, all of my sites are still running (somehow i was worried they break once i upgrade) to be honest plesk is usefull but i decided to ditch it and upgrade, so far so good i had no shutdowns of apache
