Apparently a friend of mine who doesn't live in the same country as me owes me money. I was suppose to give him paypal and he would use his credit card to buy me stuff online.

I sold virtual items to clients and directly to his paypal so he had the money and gathered up to around 1000+ and apparently his friend* took out his money and spent it and now he's saying he has no way of getting any funds until he gets a summer job and waiting for his tax return to come...

I have his home address, phone and cell phone. What can i do in this situation, he said he's going to pay me back but i only recieved a total of 49.50 out of 1000+ thus far.

I mean, the best thing to do is *not get into situations like this*. You sent money to a paypal account of a friend, and HIS friend took it out and spent it? Okay...

Step 1, never let your money get anywhere near him...

Maybe others have advice about recovering your money.

So whats stopping him from using his credit card? Maybe its because he never had intentions of paying you back.

Well, I doubt you could consider him a friend after he does this.

In the end, never let anyone use your Paypal account no matter how you trust them, besides it would be against TOS. Basically, Paypal would not be able to protect you and you cannot bring it up since it is not your paypal account. In the eyes of the law, you are not ever a party to the sale as it is between your customer and your friend.

I guess the only thing is to appeal to his conscience to repay you. Besides, a credit card means that you are buying on credit and there is no reason that he cannot pay you through it by one mean or the other unless he maxed out his credit too.

Yeah, I agree with immortality, it does seems that he probably has no intention of paying you back now or ever. Since you are not in the same country, you probably cannot go to his doorstep and confront him about it.

Nor can you take legal action, I'd think.

You just need to be really careful with your money. Don't repeat it in the future... that's the best advice.

How long have you knows this friend? Have you seen him in person? Im just asking because it sound a lot like a scam. There are just many similar scams in which people from other countries ask you to accept purchased items (expensive) that could cost up to $5000 and only send then in return $1000 for this item. They can make up many stories which would make it sound legal but all they are doing is steeling credit car numbers and buying you these items. Some ask for Paypal accounts because they can easily take out the money in any country and with stolen credit cards they can only order items and not cash.

Hopefully this is not the case with you!

Sometimes you have to cut your losses. Since they were 'virtual items', hopefully it did not cost you money to get them.

I would suggest you invest in your own Paypal account.
