Cold turkey is the only way to go. Forget all the rest of the nonsense. Either you REALLY want to quit or you don't. If you are sick of getting up every morning and hacking and spitting crap up, if your heads spins sometimes when inhaling, then you are ready. Just don't smoke. The first week or so sucks. If you can get over that it's totally doable.
The hardest part about quitting is breaking the habits that go along with it. For example, if you are used to smoking with your friends when you are hanging out together, it will be hard to hang around with them and not smoke. The best way to keep from smoking is to not put yourself in situations with people who smoke and to stay away from places where you are used to smoking.
Its a little by little step too. You can`t just quit right there and there. Lets say you consume the whole pack a day. Try to less 1 stick a day. Instead of that 1 stick, have something to chew.
