Allen Carr is the guru to hunt down, find one of his "Easyway" books and read it. Not your regular type of "You might get cancer, why are you doing it" type crap that makes you want to smoke.

It teaches you a different way of looking at it, that the withdrawal symptoms are caused by the nicotine rather than negated by it.

Give it a read, it will be worth the day it takes to read.

Strong willed you are!! isn't it!??
Just say "NO" when it knocks.
Be the master and the slave. You are just not a creature to live but to rule yourself.

Work hard and exercise a lot to keep you busy.
When you really can't help smoking, try to eat something.

Something that you can do is to find a new hobby, which may include ones that are looked down by society. Try video games, watching shows, etc. Smoking is only addicting because it relieves you from stress. If you find another stress-reliever that works just as well, then you should be set.

Be busy everyday so that you don't have time to think of smoking. If you have smoken for several years, maybe it will take a long time to quit it.

Get support. People whose friends and family help them quit are much more likely to succeed. If you don't want to tell your parents or family that you smoke, make sure your friends know, and consider confiding in a counselor or other adult you trust. And if you're having a hard time finding people to support you (if, say, all your friends smoke and none of them is interested in quitting), you might consider joining a support group, either in person or online.

You got to find the reason why you are smoking.

Is it because you are bored sometimes? -> Find something else to do instead.
Is it because it's just a habbit? -> Get a different habbit instead.
Is it because it releaves you from stress? -> Find something else to releave you from stress.

You really got to find out what the exact reason is why you can't stop smoking easily. Then find something else for it.

I was wondering... whats so wrong about smoking? Why does everyone want to quit? I never see a thread which reads "What can I do to start smoking?" C'mon... If half the world smokes cigs, it can't be that bad...

You can't quit smoking all of a sudden. Doing so will make the situation even worse. So do it slowly.

You can try to follow steps:

    1. Chewing gum is the best alternative. Whenever you get that smoking urge just use it.
    2. Do meditation especially Pranayama(breathing exercise). It will boost your self confidence and you will have complete control on your mind and body
    3. Eat more carrots. This will reduce the bad effect of smoking
    4. Walk 30 minutes a day. This will make you feel fresh and its a great stress buster(people usually say stress is the reason for their smoking habit)

You can take nicotine chewing gums instead of smoke. When you get the urge to smoke take a nicotine gum, but not more than 15 per day. Nicotine tablets (gum) are available for quitting smoking.
