i own GoSubmit directory and at present i am struggling to promote it. I is almost 1yr old and already have spent more than $500. All i have is PR3.

I used custom coded script and so far it seemed ok for me.

Any suggestions or advice here would be more than helpful. :):)

I am not sure how far $5oo goes in this game, From looking at your site you may be getting hits but there is nothing that screams to me to stop, so perhaps try something to catch and hold people on your home page.

You spend $500 and having only PR3 ?

You may get more and more return if u have +PR6.So just build as much backlinks to improve PR.

    I suggest:

1 - buy signature links and avatars here at DP and other webmaster forums
2 - submit your directory to strong directories like aviva, alive, forplex, gii, squidlink.com :p , directories.bz :p , and others.
3 - buy sitewide links on strong directories
4 - submit your site to free directories but pay for featured links - this proves how serious you are in this biz
    5 - a lot more stuff...

    $500 is nothing for a directory. ;)

    Cheers,

    Shenron

Your home page is justified to the left with a big white empty space on the right, which looks somewhat unprofessional. You might want to consider lowering your prices a bit and/or adding deep links modification to offer more value to your customers.

and as for increased promotion, everything shenron recommends above.

    2 other things...

Yes, I have to agree with the "lower your prices" part and...

Do you really need adsense there?
    I hate directories with adsense...

You are definitely going to need to start spending beyond that initial $500. I think I may have spent at least twice that amount for my directories and I am still promoting.

Well for a start $500 not bad, just buy some good sig & avatar and advertise some other directory, which will help.

try writing some articles. Post them to quality article directories. For $30, I could write you a unique 450 word article and post it to the top 400 article directories. This could bring in 50 or more backlinks, with more after time. And they are permanent too.

I found you haven't created any subcategory for categories. pls create some.

example, sub categories such as google, yahoo within search engines.

This may help to make your directory look more professional.

    just my 2 cents

Unique content - if you don't have unique content you are not going to get much SE or return visitor traffic.

Also just like others have said 500.00 is not much at all for promotion.

Hmm I think its a problem, alright...Emporium Directory is barely 9 months old and its already a PR4. It achieved a PR3 on its first update and a PR4 in the second.

unfortunately some people do not have a huge budget. i am around the middle. i spent over $500 yesterday :p

Focus on adding unique content. That will bring traffic, which in turn brings revenue :)

    Good luck
