What can i do if i find a site that copied my home page text word for word?

Contact immediately their web hosting company.

 

You can report it to police only when you have copyright for the content..

 

If he created the content, he indeed owns the copyright. The work does not need to be registered with the copyright office to be protected by copyright.

The design of the site is also protected by copyright.

That's what i would do if they do it to me

 

Sometimes the host is not that helpful, eventhough the case is so blatantly obvious

I informed Hostgator that http://www.ecopainting.ca/

was copied by http://www.louiespropainting.com/index.html

It could not be more blatant, more obvious, but they can't do anything without
a DMCA complaint.
There is the WaybackMachine, what is the problem?
I am not sure that is the case, most hosting companies do not like hosting cheats and they get rid of them immediately.

 

The second site is offline now.
Apparently they (or someone) did something about it.
