Hey guys, new here. I had launched my first website about a week ago and it finally went live last Thursday, so it's been up for about 6 days. I started with two articles on Thursday. I submitted one article to EzineArticles (accepted on 1/19/09), and a 2nd article to digg, propeller, zimbio, GoArticles, and associated content. Friday I posted a (3rd article) squidoo lens (ranked 99500 with 5 views). Saturday I completely revamped the squidoo lense (ranked 75000 now) and submitted a 4th article to SlashDot. Sunday I completely revamped my website and added 2 internal pages ("About Us" and "About this topic." Both with relevant content, one with a lot of relevant content, obviously. On Google's search through the days... I was on page 2, 4th down on Friday and was pleasantly surprised considering I only posted one article to 4 different sites on Thursday and knew EzineArticles hadn't gone live yet. This is also why I posted a lens on Squidoo. Saturday and Sunday I was on the 2nd page, 8th down. Today (Tuesday) I'm now on the 3rd page at the top! I don't understand how my PR has only gone down when all I've done was posted MORE UNIQUE articles? How often do the Google spiders check my site? This is my first question/problem, why am I losing ground on Google? I've revamped most of my stuff since posting it, only for the better by making keywords more relevant, my site more clean/catchy, adding pages, etc. How else can I gain some ground on my particular keyword search? My second problem, or more so a web-development question is; where exactly within the HTML code do I want to use my keywords? I understand the title is what Google's headline search will be. What about the meta tags? Anywhere else I REALLY want my keywords to show? I also kinda heard something about "social bookmarking," but I still don't understand the concept. If anybody could explain this to me I'd appreciate it. Any and all help for SEO/article optimization would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
just build quality backlinks , or better still if you have the money buy backlinks from site within your niche
PR is one of the factor among thousand that affect your search engine rankings. you can go for quality links from same theme of sites having higher page rank. this is will definitely help you to increase page rank.
This is quite common for new sites, you get a fresh content boost for a week or so then drift down to your natural level in the serps. All you can do is continue to add quality content and build backlinks and you will slowly rise again. Forget PR for now, it's irrelevant. Social bookmarking will indeed help with this. Basically you just submit your site to places like digg.com and reddit.com. There are literally thousand of these, many are listed in previous threads on DP.
You're on the right path. It just takes time. You're just getting off the ground if your site has only been live a week. And you can fall in rankings because your competitors are doing things to improve their rankings.
For starters, stop wasting your valuable time worrying about worthless page rank and keep building backlinks!
