What can buyers do against scammers on DP?

So DP is a great place to buy/sell links. However I've noticed quite a few scammers around. To me if you cannot keep the promise in the advertisement of your thread, you shouldn't be allowed to trade.

Exchange of itrader shows the thread where the deal was done which means we can use that to see exactly what services were advertised. So is there anything that can be done to protect buyers here on DP from dishonest sellers?

Not really, we don't get involved in disputes between members.

Wow, you've aged (or matured) Shawn since the last time I saw your picture, lol.

Anyway, I was under the impression that more can be done to protect buyers when i saw a stickied thread in the services forum (http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=854797) against a scammer but i could have been wrong. You see all the rules on DP are here for a reason I believe, like being a member for so and so days and having so and so posts before you can create a thread in the Buy/Sell/Trade forum. There's also that reputation thing to show the credibility of other users. These things are in place for one common thing which is to protect the user.

Surely if repeated complaints are being received for a particular user, then it needs investigation and when proved to be dishonest banned from the forum, right?

Well those are just my thoughts anyway, trying to make DP even better than it already is :)

Fluid, the sayseodesign case was not a matter of us getting involved in personal disputes. They were creating a lot of accounts here spamming users via PM constantly. That's probably why it was stickied, letting people to ignore the pitches that they're sending around. iTrader is there for you to share negative personal experiences with someone, and beyond that you can usually turn to the payment processor to deal with disputes. We don't have the staff here to dig through all of the he said / she said arguments making judgment calls on basic transactions. Remember - we moderate; not mediate.
