You know, Hallmark marketing folks have been crazy successful in promoting non-holidays into big spending days. Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, and Father's Day are "Hallmark Holidays" in which the masses are convinced that they must spend money on cards, gifts, etc., or they do not love their spouse or parents. I am happy to report that I did not spend a single dime on Hallmark products this Valentine's Day. We went out for a nice dinner, instead. Even that is a bit silly for a day that is totally made up for the purposes of spending money.
