If you want to MOD a forum what you expect from the forum owner? Money or any other benefits? I want to know what are all the offers forum owners are providing to their MODS!

Edit: If anyone want to be a MOD at my forum - www.onlinemoneyguild.com, what you expect?:)

If you mean MOD as in moderating, then usually it is voluntary.. you do it if you want. There are some cases where someone is too valuable and there is some kind of compromise done e.g. pay, advertising etc..

But I saw many people here posting that they needs MODS for their forum and many others are dying to be a MOD! What is the catch?

Majority of the forum moderators don’t receive any monetary gains, it’s more of a voluntary thing. People mainly due it because they are well and truly interested in the community and want to see it grow. Few also do it as a source of ego boost.

For large forums, there is always a group of dedicated and responsible members therefore getting a good mod in a large forum is easy. Though most of them are not paid, it is like giving back to the forum and hence there is prestige in being a mod

For smaller forums, their base is small therefore they will need to attract Mods over to help them with the forums.

Well think about it, you can't moderate on a forum that you don't have the first clue about what to post. You have to moderate on a niche you can post on, else there is no point of you joining...

Really small forums don’t really need moderators; most of the forums go overboard with recruiting moderators or the forum admin is just too lazy to moderate the forum and thus wants some one to take over the job.

I was a serious active member on the first forum I was a part of. I was helpful, and maintained several indexed lists of related thread (which another mod stickied and updated for me). I would also report bad posts when I found them. These things prompted the admin & current mods to ask if I wanted to join the team.

I was already doing MOST of the job, I might as well of had the title to go with the work.

The payment I got was my love for the community, and trust me, there is no better motivation then wanting to do something ;) If you go in expecting the admin to comp you in some fashion, then eventually you'll want more compensation and the admin will likely not want to give it, but will want more work (as the forum grows). To me that is a job, and if I am going to "work" I'll want at least minimum wage (something no forum could likely afford).
