Sorry, I'm not as clueless as the title indicates. LOL! If I was to develop a website, say for example, a Superman website, would I be looking for other Superman websites to link back to me? And if they link back to me, would Google see this as a positive and consider my site as being pretty decent? I've got some popular sites which rank in the first 2 pages of a Google search which are willing to link to mine. This is a good start to getting my site indexed I'm presuming? What other backlinks should I be looking for to help my site? Shouldn't I keep the backlinks sort of related to the theme of my site? Eg: Superman site has links back and forth to other Superman sites and Super-hero related sites? There surely would be no point in getting a website about Panda bears linking back to a Superman site since there is no connection whatsoever. Or am I wrong?
Yup, backlinks tell google how "important" your website is. You seem to be on your way. I'm not sure if relevancy of backlinks helps or not, I'm sure someo one on this forum can answer that question.
yeap I would say that you do.. Cos one thing we must do id to link on related site so that you wold be targeting your traffic.
Hey, You don't have to worry too much about your links being directly related to your site. Look for sites with a high PR. Google will like these a whole lot more. I hope this helps. Kat Fuschillo : )
Here is the best answer: Just keep building backlinks consistently to see the best results. Eventually you will run out of superman related websites to get links from. And when that happens, you need to find other sites to get links from. A link is a link.
In terms of better ranking you want your backlinks to be as related the phrase (keyword) you want to rank for as related as possible. So yes, if you want to rank for e.g. "Superman cartoon" backlinks from superman related sites will have the greatest effect on your ranking.
Its nice to have back links from related sites but that doesn't mean links from sites that aren't related cant be useful too, especially if they have a high pr. For starters I'd go ahead and post my link in my sig if I were u, even though digital point isn't strictly related to most people's sites they still use sig links.
