what if i did one 1 post in 10 directories? How would that be? I think more directories = more exposure so that's good for the site but 100 articles in 100 directories is too long. what if I do a 10:1 ratio? Would that at least get me at least 50% caught by google?

You could try some of the top ones like Ezinearticles and Goarticles as well as article base, if you can 100 unique articles would be the way to go
