these are all from the old testament, the old law. The new covenant is love Proteindude do not be intimidated by the lack of faith and knowledge, that some have, only a true believer can begin to understand the bible therefore the unbeliever will always misinterpret it. I see passages taking out of context and old testament verses being thrown around which are irrelevant under the new covenant
Jesus also said: "And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, [and] one shepherd. " John 10;16 But I thought this thread was about Islam. It is as clear as day the superiority of Christianity to Islam if I can put it that way. We live in 2007. This means 2007 years since Jesus was born not since Mohammed was born. There are more hospitals and orphanages in the world started by Christians than any other religion. The golden rule is even quoted by atheists: Ingersoll a well-known atheistic writer referring to Jesus: "With Renan, I believe Christ was the one perfect man. <Do unto others what you would that they should do unto you> is the perfection of religion and morality. It is the summum bonum. It was loftier than the teachings of Socrates, Plato, Mohammed, Moses or Confucius. It superseded the commandments that Moses claimed to have gotten from God, for with Christ's <do unto others> there could be no murder, lying, covetousness, or war"
Did God change his mind about the law then? Jesus cursed those who changed/didnt follow it. Nevertheless the New testament is mostly pauls corruption, do some research on the council of nicea were constantine had the bible edited to his satisfaction. A few from many Verses THAT CONTRADICT THEMSELVES: Matthew 1:12 and Luke 3:27 - Who was Salathiel's father? Matthew 1:16 and Luke 3:23 - Who was Joseph's father? Matthew 9:18 and Mark 5:22-23 - Dead or not? Matthew 10:5-10 and Mark 6:7-8 - Bring a staff or not? Matthew 15:21-22 and Mark 7:24-26 - The woman was of Canaan or Greece? Matthew 20:29-30 and Mark 10:46-47 - One or two beggars? Matthew 21:1-2 and Mark 11:1-2 - What happened to the ass? Matthew 26:74-75 and Mark 14:72 - Before the cock crow once or twice? Matthew 27:5 and Acts 1:18 - How did Judas die? John 3:16 and Psalms 2:7 - Only begotten son? John 5:31 and John 8:14 - Was Jesus' record true or not? God is not a man to have contradictions in his book. 4:82
There are several parts of the Bible that APPEAR to contradict themselves. But I thought the subject of this thread was Islam. What good thing come out of Islam??? Tell me something NEW (not found in the Bible) that I can show the whole world and say: LOOK, what a NEW positive teaching Mohamed brought us, a teaching so positive we should ALL embrace.
Protein, why do you persist in trying to ascribe this to Christ, when you've already admitted it wasn't "his?"
You are attacking islam, you started this thread, i am responding because those in glass houses shouldnt throw stones. The bible is a farse in terms of corruption. (Matthew 7:21-23) We believe in Jesus's second coming, you see here he even prophesied that he will not be pleased with todays Christians - who do so many deeds in his name because you follow a corrupt book authored mostly by paul the blasphemer, jesus never said I am God, worship me!
He simply asked what good has come from it and no one seems to have an answer, he hasn't attacked islam, the attacks have come the other side, as they traditionally do with the Islamic religion Islam is the second largest religion, im sure there is a logical reason for that
What's the matter with you? When did I (proteindude) admit it wasn't "His"??? I quoted Ingersoll for you and he is not err...the guy that inspires me the most. But even he (an atheist) was man enough to acknowledge the teachings of Christ. You can quote any similarities you want, there is still only ONE that made sure this was taught. So what's that positive teaching of Islam again??? That NEW and great teaching that the whole world should learn from the Koran? A teaching so great that doesn't appear anywhere else and it could have only been brought to the entire human race by the main prophet Mohamed himself
He has repeatedly said that no good as come from islam, that to me is an insult, coming from one of the worlds most man-tampered religion. Btw jesus even prayed like muslims do today! (From the NIV Bible, Matthew 26:39) (Why would God need to pray if Jesus was God?) I consider myself a real christain, as i follow what jesus (pbuh) really did.
Well, here's your chance to prove to an ignorant person like myself the GOOD that comes out of Islam. Still waiting...
Sorry, perhaps I misinterpreted you. Since you were replying with the above, my showing that this "Rule" existed across many religions long preceding Christ, that it couldn't possibly be "his" rule as you maintained. I took you to mean that it isn't important who came up with it, but rather, that it exists. In other words, I took your words: -at face value. Ingersoll was wrong, as well. If you are still meaning that this is Christ's creation, I'd ask - how can it have existed prior to him? Is it possible it's as I said it was, a sign of compassion endemic to the human heart? It doesn't diminish Christ or his message in the least to say he, too, espoused a wonderful idea such as this - does it?
Algebra, modern chemistry, so much things... http://members.tripod.com/~salems2/muslim_contribution_to_the_world.html Look your obsession with new teachings is ridiculous, there was never any difference in all the revelations sent to all the peoples of the worlds! But they constantly corrupted them and thus God would send new messengers with the ORIGINAL message, ISLAM is not a NEW religion, it is the original message of true submission to the ONE and only creator of the universe. it is also THE FINAL revelation and thus it has never been and never will be corrupted! Your 'NEW' bible is mostly written by people who never new jesus according to your sholars! It also contains many fables, even letters (???). Attributing that to the Almighty, is an insult and ultimatley your loss, your pride just overcomes you and you dont want to accept the bibles true corruption.
Islam had in it's time of birth a bigger influence over social and Geo-political affairs of the it's part of the world than Christianity since Mohammad as a man effectively changed the society of his time and influenced the future development of the world while Jesus as a myth and non existent person had no such effects and the future influence of Christianity which is the result of combination of Persian mysticism and Judaism only spread because of the internal problems of Roman empire.
Ingersoll (an atheist) was attributing it to Christ. When you think of the Golden Rule you think of it being commanded by Jesus not by the many other dudes you mentioned. I am not sure about the other dudes and what they said. For example the Talmudic note was saying: "DON'T do to others" so it was not necessarily implying DO UNTO OTHERS. You could say it was only partly the teaching of Christ. But since you seem to know so much about religions, perhaps you can show me the great teaching of Islam, the one I am failing to see
NO, what your failing to see is the corruption of the bible due to your pride, you just change the subject every time i offer you more evidence.
There is historical evidence for the man, Jesus. I agree with Gworld that much of Christianity's message found fertile ground in the "otherworldly" cult of Mithras extant in the Roman Empire of the time, which to put it grossly overbroad had grown just a bit sick of the material cult of the Emperor and roman religion generally.
You mentioned the Muslims were really good with maths. Now, I am not sure how many times I asked this question so I am not muslim so I can't be as good in maths. But let me ask you again: Well, here's your chance to prove to an ignorant person like myself the GOOD that comes out of Islam. Still waiting...
Sure: any explanation except that perhaps Christianity was in fact started and based on the teachings of Jesus Christ (history's most influential person)
It is your opinion biased by your own faith that comes to that conclusion. I will stand by the bible as truth, and correct in every way. You must have the holy spirit to fully understand it. Not only could you never understand it you dont and wont ever want to
