"Affiliate Links are NOT Allowed in PMs

You MAY NOT post threads to promote affiliate programs via PM."

I saw this sticky in the freebies section. This will clean a lot of stuff from the freebies section. But how will you promote your affiliate program - only through signatures?

 

Signature links are the only options i think

 

I think the title could be better worded because it isn't a blanket ban on affiliate links in PMs.
I mean if someone PMs me, as people regularly do, to ask my advice about which PPC (or whatever) to use then I feel obliged to send them my referral link!
As for the substance of the rule it's a sensible move. Freebies is full of shite threads where you have to PM the OP for some magical money-making secret which turns out to be a PTC referral link.

 

Actually, yes, it is. No affiliate links in PMs. No threads to get people to PM you so you can send affiliate links. If you want affiliate links, they go in your sig. If someone legitimately (and independently) contacts you privately to ask advice, point them to your sig link if you want to. However, that doesn't mean you're allowed to start threads to get people to PM you just so you can tell them to click the affiliate link in your sig. In other words, you can't actively solicit it.
