Hey all Strange title I know but bear with me. I have read so many posts on this forum where people say that they barely make $1 a day and I just want to know what exactly it is that they are doing with their time to earn such a small amount. A lot of people that post these comments also state in their signatures that they are earning big amounts so it totally contradicts itself. I currently work full time so only have a few hours per day to make any progress when I am on the internet, I used to get side tracked doing one thing then moving onto another before I got my head together and created a work structure that I stick to. If it wasn't for this I would probably be earning the same. So my question is what do you do with your time?
I think allot of people fail to realize that without working on your site's traffic, you can have the best product or service or all the well designed and well placed Adsense Ads or affiliate links you like. You won't make a dime. Well. Mabey a dime
I work full time too, but I think the main problem isn't content design etc etc its getting people to actually visit
I am making money but not as much as I want.. it comes up to about $10 an hour.. I do not think it is really worth of time I am spending.. I make double of it at my day job.. What am I doing not to make money on the web.. I guess spend to much time on the redundant work
I'm sorry Q, I'm a little confused. Am I to assume then, that even though you worked on your traffic you're still not making money? I was just thinking out loud ... Thanks, Lilly
Making money online isnt so hard to do. But making consistant big revenue might be a challenge. Not only you need to focus on the right content, product, affiliate program and the correct audiance. It is like any other business in life. You do need to invest some money to get it off the ground. Expect to make nothing for a few months then start earning some income after you manage to advertise and grow targeted traffic to purchase the product or service you are offering.
Ok I admit, I make hardly anything with my adsense, and don’t get that much traffic 20-50 ppl today (and 50 was a one off). Im not really sure what all the tricks of the trade are for getting traffic, but my forum is only a few months old, and i think i have about 2000 back links, some from universities. So not really sure what else i should be doing to drive the traffic to my site. Content (its getting there), links(getting there), no idea what else to do except mails or just let the site age What are your suggestions to drive traffic, what are you setting side time to do, except getting back links? or is that the secret, backlink after backlink after backlink?
It's funny, some of the sites I pour blood, sweat and tears into to make them big moneymakers go many months before returning much. On the other hand, some of the sites I put up just for the hell of it and ignore end up getting ranked well in a few weeks and bring in the cash. I guess if I can just average $10 a month net on each site and run a thousand of them, that'll be okay.
I've shared some of my ideas about free or low cost traffic building in another post here in this Forum. Some ideas indeed include link building, however, press releases, article submissions, newsletters, and online classified ads actually work very well too.
When I'm checking my income for the day, I'm not making money. I do too much of that, instead of writing content or getting links or actually improving my sites...
I have a hockey game tonight, but I doubt that will help with any earnings unless I get a new SEO client. Although, doing nothing is kind of nice some times.... I just got back from a week & half trip to San Diego, and coming back to a week of adsense revenues and doing NOTHING during the week is really nice.
Ive been checking income, and looking at stats, and where ppl come from etc etc, your absolutely right tstaut, it wastes too much time. Time to get the campaign going.
You have a nice forum going for yourself. Overtime, it will pay for it since you are just starting populating the your forum database contents.
mpea, One of the suggestion I have for you is to change your adsense location inside the post. You might want to try using image ad inside your post to increase the click through rate. Here is an example of the googleadsense forum intergration http://www.talkgold.com/forum/r116842-.html
I know .. I think out loud too much sometimes I really enjoyed visiting your sites. They are nice, and crisp and inviting to the eye. After visiting Alexa I noticed that you've been online since 2002. I was wondering how many uniques and page views your receive for each, on a daily basis? If you do not mind sharing, that is. Peace, Lilly p.s. you have some awsome recipes on your blog and I'm an avid baker, so thanks for them!
I know what you mean, hmm (I havent come across that forum before though) I've seen this done before, and its actually put me off of some forums as it felt quite spamish. I think, at least until it really gets going I want to make the adverts as less intrusive as I can.
