After having read a lot of posts in DP and exchange a lot on the subject, I noted that we have all a own made definition of what we are considering as quality backlink. Would you please give us your definition and debat about this recurring question ?
Elements of quality links: Links come from sites that is related to your content Links come from sites that have a lot of incoming links (high PR) Links use keyword anchor text in the link Links come from a content page (not a list or directory page)
5) The link is one of few outgoing links. (Coming from the page not saturated with other links) 6) Link does not have nofollow attributes.
The definitions given above seem to be taken from the viewpoint of search ranking or gaining PR. For me, a quality backlink is one that delivers a quality visitor. Someone who is specifically looking for what my sites offer. It's then up to me to lead that visitor on to clicking an ad, buying a product, signing up etc. I find that with links like that, PR and search rankings take care of themselves. Phlegm...
i think quality link depent on 3 criterias * relation to your content * backlinks power * outgoing link number that your link will stay
In my experience the best links are the ones that other webmasters give you without being asked. You discover them from seeing them in your logs or stats. They are nearly always from highly relevant sites, and send significant amount of traffic.
A link is quality if its on a page that has lots of external incoming links itself. Also look for pages that rank in Google for their target keywords (the ones in the title). If its relevant to your site then thats best but that is actually less important.
What a quality back link for me is (apart that from related content): a). a link that brings me traffic (priority for me) b). a link on a site that has higher pr (content related of course)
The perfect backlink: Appears on a relevant page that has high traffic. PR is nice, but traffic is the real goal
I wrote a link development guide few months back and it discusses what a quality link is. You might want to check it out. Quality of Links A number of factors affect the Quality of a link. Google also pays importance to quality of links and uses this in deciding the ranking for a website for a particular Search Term. The factors which need to be considered when evaluating the quality of a link are as follows: Anchor Text of the Link Theme of other links on that webpage Theme of the surrounding text on that webpage Title of the linking Page Number of Outbound links on that page Type of link Text VS Image links Prominence of the link You can read the entire article at http://www.seo-reloaded.com/killer-link-building-strategies/
links coiming from the site that has good page rank links coiming from the site that has more backlinks links coming from the site that has good content
Thank you to all that have participated to consolidate different definition according to us... Now, I would like to ask you the same question but focus on what make a good link (text, picture, banner... and dynamic, flat... and ???) ?
* High PR sites with many backlinks and high rankings * Sites that will stream traffic to your site regardless of the link love * The site must be related to your theme and should be a BIG player in the field that you're in. * Sites should have good content and you should use varied anchor text.
The link must be on topic and have good, relevant achor text - the site / page must be relevant to yours. A PR10 link from an internet marketing blog to a real estate site will have no effect on rank (although will help indexing). Personally I'm a fan of deep linking rather than just linking to your homepage. I think it looks more "real" and means you can use very targetted anchor text.
Quality links are links that will post your site on the first page and will attract more visitors, and will increase your traffic
WebGeek and mightyB summed it up nicely if you're interested in search engine rankings and PR. If you're interested in making sales though, the link should be in a prominent place (main content) so it will bring you traffic.
