You should use the ways that are not against Google TOS. For example don't use auto-surf programs.

Definately dont buy traffic for sites that you have adsense on, try and get natural traffic.

Im not completely sure regarding yahoo answers.

By natural traffic i mean where searchers find your site in the SE's, or wherever else they may see your link, you could of posted on a blog and someone clicks your url or some other place, but basically not through unnatural methods.

Basically not forcing people there, but visitors finding you naturally from your seo efforts.

Traffic from Yahoo answers should be okay. Instead, you can't use auto-surf program to drive traffic to your site.

Traffic from yahoo answers is perfectly fine. Traffic from forums is natural , traffic from search engines is natural traffic, traffic from article directories is natural etc etc

The only thing I know for certain that Google hates is auto surfs. You should be waring of buying traffic in bulk, such as those 100,000 visitors for $xx. Generally it is crap traffic and not worth the money. You can certainly buy traffic using PPC. Some call this arbitrage, and I'm sure you can find more about that on this and other forums. As for other traffic generation means, yes, Yahoo Answers links, forum links, site links, blog links, etc are all effective means of SEO and can bring traffic, which is 100% accepted.
