What are typical presell landing page clickthrough rates?

    Hello,

I have created extremely nice clickbank presell landing pages. These aren't reviews, but they are a pre landing page to warm the potential customer up to buy. From this page I am have learn more now links to the actual clickbank landing pages.

I am getting really frustrated because I have noticed maybe 5% of people are going to the clickbank page. Now, I am using PPC for experimental purposes with laser targeted keywords, but my main business purpose is SEO driven to my presell landing pages.

Anyhow, if only 1 out of 100 hops leads to a sale, and only 5% of people go to the clickbank page, that means if I had 100,000/month going to my landing page, 5,000 would generate a hop to the clickbank page, and that out of the 5,000 sent there, I would get 50 sales, leading to about say $1,000.

Now, if that is the case, then this is ridiculus, because the chance at getting 100,000/month even at the top of google is extremely low. Now, lets say I get 40,000/month to the page, that means I make approximately a wopping 400 bucks!

Now, this is total crap. And clickbank is a total scam if this is the case. There are two things I can think of regarding this issue which is:

    Either:

    A) My presell page is working horribly, which I find odd, because my presell page is nicer than any landing page I have seen, and I am not kidding (when you think about the time or the money I spent to create them, it only makes sense).

    B) If my landing page numbers (5 percent presell click through rate) then I could possibly see that the only people making money on clickbank BUILD LISTS and then hit those users up later. I could see this working with PPC for example, because for all the people who went to my initial landing page, I would have all their information, and I would imagine with 100,000 people I would get a hell of a lot of leads, thus leading to more than a measely 1,000 dollars/month!

Hell, I am spending 500/month for social media management (twitter, facebook, and blog postings).

And then, another $1,000/month right now to get SEO started. But, clickbank SUCKS balls if only %5 is an expected click through rate. And what the hell is the deal with a 1 out of 100 hop rate sale? This is also total crap. Someone please shed some light on this and let me know what's up. Thanks.

Without asking too much, is it possible to see a typical presell landing page from you? Perhaps you think they are excellent but obviously something is wrong, don't you think?
Or your traffic is not at all that targeted.

From my limited experience, if you get targeted traffic to your page which talks about the product and make a link for more information it can flirt with 30-50% that's what I've had when I had traffic coming from people looking for the name of the product and simply having a link at the top of my page, which was not promoting the product, simply mentionning it. It's only after I added the clickbank link, when I noticed the incoming traffic.
Of course if your traffic is not targeted, meaning maybe people are interested in the topic but not looking for a solution to a problem, more like browsing about the topic, then the ctr will be lower.
But in the page you've shown me, the only link to the landing page of the product is a "add to cart" that means people will click on it when they're interested to buy it or maybe hesitating, that's why your CTR to send people to the landing page is so low, you're sending targeted traffic to the landing page of the product, but people expect an order form or a cart page, and they see a totally different page which is yet another landing page. You confuse them.
By having a "more info here" in your page you'll get more people to go to the product landing page and THEN they know there will be more information and if they are interested in the product they'll look for an order form at this point only.

So if your page has low CTR it is mostly because you send people only who click on ADD TO CART. If you change that your ctr will increase.

So make sure you have targeted traffic in the first place and you send most of it to the product landing page, and importantly select wisely products which have a good landing page which you think will convert well, for this you can look at GRAVITY in clickbank, it's a good indication of the ability of the product's owner to convert people who are sent to his product pages.
