I didn't quite know where to ask this question but I figure this forum might be the best one. I keep seeing these links that are obviously meant to be an ad of some sort popping up on some sites I visit and it's incredibly annoying. Like here -> http://www.devshed.com/c/a/PHP/User-Authentication-With-Apache-And-PHP/3/ Notice the words in the article that are link-i-fied. Such that when my mouse accidentally or intentionally hovers over them a big box pops up with some ad. What are these links called? And how can I get rid of them? I haven't found them in the source code of the page anywhere so can anyone come along and just linkify words on my site article too? Any input on this would be appreciated. Thanks. Carlos
those are "IntelliTXT" ads by Vibrant Media. http://www.vibrantmedia.com/webpublishers/in-text_advertising/in-text_formats.asp you can block them by using addons in Firefox. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865
one form of contextual advertising just as infolink or kontera. lot of sites including some popular social media sites linke squidoo, hubpages are using those types of links these days.
