hello, last few days i have visited so many add and heard from some of my friend about intel 2nd generation corei3 and corei7 processors. corei procesors are in the market for a long time but what are these 2nd generation things all about?
Every chip family sees improvements to the fabrication process before a totally neww chip design is released. These changes to the fabrication process usually lead to higher speeds, less power draw, improvements to internal architecture, etc.... They usually work in the same sockets, so they usually do not require a motherboard swap to use.
2nd Generation Core i processors are improved micro-architecture from original Nehalem and Westmere architecture. The second generation core i processor is based on Sandy Bridge architecture. 2nd generation core i processor use socket 1155 while the older core i processors used 1156. So the second generation will not work with 1st generation motherboards.
