I have 1gb kingston RAM. Which won't work on the laptop. Once i insert the ram , the computer wont start. It shows the lights but wont start.

Anyone know how to clean a defect Ram? The ram's put out for long. It might be because of dust particles on the down part?

Spray it with compressed air (you can get it at Radio Shack for like five bucks) and VERY CAREFULLY clean it off with a dry paper towel.

I didn't have to get a new stick. The eraser did the trick. But, a new 2GB stick is not a bad idea either.

Take a clean eraser and rub your RAM slightly on it. I have tried this many times and it works fine. Also, if u have a blower, use it to clean RAM slot. I also had same problem like U. Really works.

First clean the dust with blower or any dry cotton cloth. After removing the dust spray thinner and rub the surface smoothly with tooth brush. After the job is done, use hair dryer to remove the thinner from the surface of the chip.

I use rubbing alcohol. Put a small amount on a lint free rag, then lightly swipe over the contacts.

I have a 512mb RAM module that causes a bunch of problems on my desktop. When i install it, the BIOs shows that its working, xp boots, but than a i get a bunch of errors, and freezes; when i try to play games the computer shuts down. I tried rubbing with an eraser but that didnt seem to work. So yeah, thought i would just mention that.
