What are the uses of Building Directories?

    I have started a new web directory.

    I want to know the uses of Building Directories.

    If we promote the directory in a good way,how much revenue can we expect per month/average?

    Eagerly waiting for the replies from the experienced persons.

    They offer backlinks for other websites.

    Impossible to say how much revenue one could generate.

    If your directory has something new to offer, you can make good money but if it's just another phpld directory with same category dump, don't think it make make much.

    but I am not really sure if directories really works

    If you have quality links, your PR rank will increase. you can have considerable revenue from ads.
