Like PoPSiCle said, you will need to build an engaged audience before thinking of monetizing your Blog. Trust is a key factor when selling anything online. If you don't have it, people won't buy from you.

Now, one thing that I've seen many successful bloggers doing recently is to sell a subscription to a premium membership. What does that mean?

- You can get exclusive content from them. Like exclusive interviews with relevant people from their niche, videos, etc.
- You can get exclusive time with them. Like having a Google hang-out or a webinar only to members where you can interact with the blogger.
- You can take part in a community where you can interact with other premium readers of the Blog. They usually go for platforms like slack to create these communities and they facilitate the conversation among users.
- You can get exclusive discounts on certain products. Like coupons for their Udemy Courses, or any other deals that they manage to negotiate to their readers.

This is a great option because it provides your a regular source of income. But of course you need to first build trust with your audience, then sell the membership to them, and finally be able to retain your premium users by constantly giving them value for their money.

You have to find the right subject (popular but not too competitive), learn about so you are expert and can give real value, learn about running a successful blog and then the money making will follow ... and you will learn about money making methods when you learn about running a successful blog.

FACT: Publishing an ebook can definitely earn you some extra income, and offering part of it for free is a great way to get people to opt-in to an email marketing campaign so you can sell them on buying the entire book along with other products.
FICTION: You can expect to be viewed as an industry expert within your field after quickly writing a short, sloppy ebook and publishing it without any professional design or editing whatsoever.

You get out of something what you put into it whether it's a blog or a book. It takes time and effort to build up your readership and produce a saleable ebook that will earn you money.
