Getting a listing in DMOZ requires an act of God and Yahoo is too expensive. What are the Top 5 Directories that are reasonably priced and give the most "Bang for your Buck" as far as traffic and PR? Thanks
That implies that a submitter believes in a god, yahoo isn't expensive its just natural that if its from yahoo its not going to be offering $10 reviews. There is no top 5, as i have no idea what site you might submit its impossible to answer, you might have a site that would be listed in the weakest category of a directory. Directories never have been able to directly shift that green bar either way so i dont know where this pr expectation comes from. And they are not for traffic either so i would reconsider how you spend your money on submissions if you submit for these reasons. I get tired of reading whats the best, i dont mean to sound rude but its a child like way of asking a question, its very naive. Naturally what you get in a thread like this is a few monkeys who as a favour will suggest certain ones for their friends and you will even get a few replies from people unable to read english who will drop a link to their 2 day old directory. Im waiting to see the same names mentioned here. *waits*
There is nothing of top web directories , all the web directories with Higher page rank are worth to submit . Also if you need assured back link then you may think about paid links and most of the sites offerings at $9 per year . You can also check this site for top web directories http://www.top10webdirectory.com
Really, so a dropped domain with a strange name that is 5 days old is worth submitting to because it has high pagerank? Really, so paid links (which google are against) will "assure" you of a backlink? So how does that work, do we purchase a link then notify google that we have just done that and they manually add another backlink for us? Really, and most of the sites offer at $9 a year? So where are these sites that seem to offer at round about that same yearly cost?
I don't really bother submitting to directories anymore, yes I do submit to DMOZ and maybe a few others but that's it.
Well, we don't call it TOP but if you have something of value to submit you can read and follow submission guidelines you can get up to 18 backlinks from directory in my signature but other than honestly I don't even know what top directories means. fastreplies
The list will vary for every web site. You really want related links so directories in your niche is where you should start. Then after you've gone through your niche you can look at some of the better know general directories. Here's a list of good value web directories that you can use to get started. The search on the site will help you narrow the list to your niche, pr, alexa, price, value rating, etc.
All those people suggesting paid directories read this http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1904432
And you can tell me that that applies to all paid directories? I'm going to guess that the end result is directly related to the choice of directories to begin with. Start with crap and you end up with crap.
I don't believe in top directories. I have few websites in DMOZ and not receiving from this directory even single click. From other side I'm receiving visitors from much smaller and less known directory. My personal opinion, web directories are good for PR but not for traffic. At the end of the day you want your visitors coming from search engines and web directories will not help you there. I would go in direction of getting links from related websites or writing articles related to your website's niche. Such links will be "appreciated" and counted by Google and will improve your keyword rankings, and at the end this is what will bring visitors to your website. This is long-term strategy.
