What are the top 5 (affordable) paid directories that you submit to?

we all know great directories like BOTW, Yahoo, etc. They are (for most people including myself) too expensive to submit all of our websites.

What are some of the (affordable) paid directories that you submit to?

    Some of mine are:
    Authority Directory ($7.00)
    Family Friendly Sites ($19.00)

I'm just learning about some new well done directories that I've missed for being out of the directory market for so long.

I like Directory.Am. Do you know who the owner is?

DirJournal is a very well done directory. Hasan has done a great job. It is on the more expensive side though.

Romow doesn't rank for "Romow Directory" anymore.

I noticed that on your submission page it's states that Basic listings are free, but the drop down menu has since changed it's now $4.95. How about updating the page to reflect the current status. Also what is the status of the submissions made prior to your updating the submission option from free to paid?

Hi CReed, and thanks for your comments.

the Basic submissions are really free, however, only for deep leveled categories. For top-level major categories basic listings aren't free, which is fair.

I didn't get your second questions, please explain what you mean.

I myself go for Directories with high traffic, high SERPs for their main keywords or both.

Directory.Am looks like a decent directory, will definitely consider it in the near future.

It’s not just about affordable submissions costs.
Some of the directories in this thread are simply not worth the submission fees, people have lost faith in directory submissions. Let’s face it, most of us can build backlinks for free or at least cheap.

The days of paying $50+ per year is a thing of the past as far as I’m concerned.

Most of the so called top web directories are far too expensive and returned gains are not worth the fee.

    Thanks Brian

^ I agree, that was my thoughts when I looked at some of these links. I don't mind spending $5-$10 on a general directory link, But $50?? NO.. I am I going to get $50 worth of backlink from a general directory? no... I just don't see it. I expect a lot more link for that kind of money then a plan general directory link.

You are right as far as most general directories are concern, they are overpriced.
On the other hand , well established niche and local directories are still worth submitting your website to.
For example , my Chicago Business Directory offers $2/year listing that currently runs special giving upgraded to the next package(regular $9/year).
For local businesses that is a great local citation no mention seo friendly anchor they receive.Few of those can spike your local SERPs even in the large city.

Here is my top list. They are not by any means the "cheapest" but in reality I think that when it comes to seo and getting real google juice you need to go with the highest quality sites you can. Some of the low end directories I have used in the past have dead links on the site and do not maintain their listings as well as others. I believe that all directories do provide some value, but they are not going to give a site with few backlinks a big boost. What directories can be good for is putting your site over the top to grab some rankings that you are not going to be able to get by using low pr and otherwise low quality links. You can get some reasonable foot traffic directly from some directories as well.

So here is my short list:

    http://Yahoo.com PR 8 – $299
    http://Business.com PR 7 $199
    http://Botw.org PR 7 $69-$300
    http://JoeAnt.com PR6 $39.99
    http://MassiveLinks.com PR4 $39.99 – $79.99
