I was listening to a Net Income radio show with Shoemoney and Rand Fishkin from Oct 31st and a caller asked Rand what he felt were the best directories to be in right off the bat. (you can listen a copy of the show on shoemoney's site) Rand listed: Business.com MSN Small business DMOZ (one other I didn't recognize, but they said was defunct) He also mentioned Librarians Internet Index So that makes 4, I was looking to get some other suggestions from other members to find a full top 10 - mostly looking at free or sub $200 submission fees... Can you help? Thanks
My favourite 5... Dmoz Aviva Directory (avivadirectory[dot]com) Alive Directory (alivedirectory[dot]com) Squidlink (squidlink[dot]com) Global Internet Index (gii[dot]in)
The information you are looking for is right here 1. Top 10 Paid Inclusion Directories 2. Best 25 Paid Directories Hope this helps.
I would suggest submitting it to DMOZ, you never know it might be accpeted and it would be great for a new site
Last time i checked they only accepted non-commercial sites... Wanted to submit, but i guess my sites didnt meet the criterias
Ours are quality affordable Page Rank 5 and supported by sustainable marketing & promotion Forplex Business Directory & Frog Engine Please take a look Thanks
It seems some members here forget when someone asks an honest question, they deserve an accurate answer. an answer such as: Is such a ridiculous answer. Sorry buddy, your directory is far from Top 10 with 2200+ Links Pending. Answers such as those deserve infractions, since they are completely wrong and blatant self promotion of a directory that is far from Top 10 on the web.
The defunct one is probably zeal I would add to the list: joeant (my favorite) illumirate gimpsy abilogic avivadirectory alivedirectory hedir
I think DMOZ is number 1. I have tried to get my directory listed there for about 3 months now, but haven't gotten a reply from them yet.
Thank you for pulling this thread back on track - and I appreciate the honest answers that have come in. Yeah, I went back and read the Lii.org and it's for non-commercial, I wonder why Rand (from SEOmoz) suggested it - the question posed on the radio show was about linking to directories for a Real Estate site - I don't recall it was for a non-profit...does anyone one know if they just don't really care as long as you have some free content on there? Again thanks for the responses so far... I guess you can't ask these questions and put newbie in the title and expect that everyone is going to give you good answers. Little tip for those of you who throw in weak little spamy attempts - please don't assume that someone who asks a newbie question isn't familiar with how to use a forum and what bogus responses are... It ends up getting your future posts put on a personal blocked list. 1. Put your link in your sig and make your sig message intriguing. 2. Post something that has some orginal thoughts instead of "try this..." - at least tell the person why they should try it! Sorry guys had to vent - I see this a lot in these forums... PurplePeeps
