I am looking to sell a site on sites like DNforum and namepros. This is the first time I am doing this. So can anyone tell me what are the things I need to taken care of while selling a website ? Regards
Monthly Revenues Scope of your website Statistics of your website in brief 1 reason someone would buy your website, and reason why you are selling it. domain name details hosting details if you provide all this correctly your site should be sold quick ! hope it helps
actually I am the one who is selling the website What I want to know to is what are the things I need to take care as a seller ? like the payment issues ? domain forwarding ? site content transfer ? Thanks
do not give your passwords until you will have the money. Sometimes also escrow is not good because you will give the passwords and then the buyer can take the money back from escrow after some arbitration Receive through wire first half of the money. You can use escrow on this part Send your cpanel details to the buyer. You will receive the other half of the money and then you have to push your domain name to buyer. Good luck with the sale Razvan Take care
It's a good rule of thumb to receive payment upfront or via escrow prior to transferring the website. You as a seller will be expected to transfer the domain name (not forward), provide the buyer with the website's entire content (files and databases if any.)
Can you link us to a thread where anything like this happened? I think not. Ah! Let me see - are you looking to sell some sites yourself. Hmm. You'd like buyers to risk 50% up front - with no guarantees whatsoever - by sending you a wire transfer to your country, would you? Escrow is a safe way of paying and I wouldn't advise you to use anything else and this page may give you more info about that. Depending on the type of site you'll have to hand over various things to the buyer. The domain name is, of course, standard. As is the content. But buyers tend to also want things like - contract giving them copyrights etc - copies of your old stats for analysis/intelligence purposes - databases of subscribers - forum user names/freemail email adds (if they use the business trademark) - copies of old email/correspondence with business partners - list of prepaid ads and period they are due to run for But have a look at this: Top ten tips to prepare your site for sale Hope that helps
