ok...so in trying to understand how to SEO better, i took a look at the code of a site i am messing around with: Here is the top of the source page info for a blog post:

These links (and subsequently things like the nav bar, footer, etc) is on all pages. i also read that google puts a heavy emphasis on the first 200 words of your website (generally inclusive of the title tag, page description, keywords, etc). my question is...is google reading the stuff like the nav bar? or does google ignore universal items (like the links, the nav bar, the footer, the sidebar widgets, etc)...or does it count those in your "200 words" that make up an important part of you SEO?

(i am a complete noob and doing a ton of reading an research. plz b gentle if you choose to flame...or feel free to link me if i was a boner and missed a recent post on this)

    thnk you =)

when googlebot first arrives at your site, they look for any robots.txt file if available. Then they go the pages which are allowed to crawl by robots.txt and then they go the each webpage and crawl as pawan stated.
