There are no rules other than write your content so it doesn't sound dumb to a reader and don't try and deceive the search engines.
There is no hard and fast rule for repetition of keywords. The key things to remember when you are repeating a keyword in a particular page is that the repetition must not sound odd and must make proper grammatical sense.
Also, the three major search engines each have different algorithms. Yahoo and MSN have higher tolerence for keyword density compared to google. There is no across the board rule, but google is likely to be the first SE that will think you are "trying to hard to rank" - i.e. over-optimization penalty.
Yeah, MSN is a keyword muncher....more so than Google. So if you are interested in getting listed in MSN, then use your keywords liberally. If you want listed in Google then there are too many other approaches to use to list here.
I found some info... that google limits it to 2% and MSN and Yahoo 5% in terms of keyword dentisy that is even I've noticed that many populkar sites reach even 15% and still get away with it
Not sure I rmember, maybe seochat.com or something, but the main idea is that the main keywords shouldn't pass those % on a page otherwise you get lower ranking.. of course there are many other factors, you can still be 1# with it if everything else is ok, but that's also something to consider.
Hi, regarding keyword density (and maybe a bit off topic), what tools do you guys use to check that on pages? Have a page which *maybe* is being penalized, I'd like to check the kw density %. Thanks
Thanks drhyperlaur, I checked one of my sites and found out the two main keywords are 3.7% and 7.7%. So I guess I'll have to use some sinonimums to drop the 7.7%... :S
I dont think there is need of repetition of keywords many time as it is not going to make a sense, instead you can target most competitive keyword(s) and should careful especially for google as they have lower keyword density.
this keyword density thinghie is not really like that... what about if i have a Brand and on the main page (which can just be an intro page) i have just the company name.. that will be 100% density and i doubt google will act somehow...
