What are the most important SEO factors you have found with your website and Google?

Content and Keyword Factor is more imporant in adsense! if you have good content with dedicated keywords unique visitors will come across through search engines and further links

Content is the daddy. Backlinks are the wives washing the dishes at home. Without them you'd be f%*&$d

 

I find that getting on the first page of Google's SERP's is easier when I do the following;

• ALT tags on all images with related descriptions AND file names
• Logo ALT to contain same description as page title (usually boost my SERP's quite a lot)
• Using header tags correctly and appropriatly
• All links to contain a related title tag (e.g. <a href="http://www.mysite.com/contact/" title="Contact Us">
• Keeping all filenames associated with their purpose (e.g. Terms & Conditions = terms-conditions.php
• Use descriptive and related anchors with links (e.g. Do not hesitate to contact us if you need help.)
• Maximum of 20 outbound links on any page including directories
• Only exchange links with sites in a similar niche
• Slowly gain backinks with a maximum of 20 per day
• Using a .htaccess 301 redirect to direct all non-www traffic to www domain (or vice versa)
• Keeping your websites within a good neighbourhood

That's all I can think of off the top of my head but I do have a list of SEO practices which I always make sure I do on any of my sites. Although I do not claim to be an SEO professional (and I am definatly not), I do however find that these practices help me a lot when it comes to getting SE traffic and ranking high in the Google SERP's.

it seems for me that more backlinks generate higher search engine ranking thus more people see your site. This leads to more clicks, and more backlinks result, etc... if noone hears about your site, you won't have much traffic, and if u don't get much traffic, noone will hear about your site.. It's an iterative process...

Yes. Traffic is good. But this thread is on about what SEO factors put you higher in the SERP's, link building is one of them.

Indeed, it is luck too, at the end of the day, if not any, very few people know Google's Algorithm and the way it determines a websites rank. We can only apply factors which we know help towards the SEO.

 

Constant quality, helpful content. Aside from pleasing bots (hope the term is correct), I believe our audience needs and deserves site owners' attention. Google may first put our website in front of our readers, I believe it is our readers greatly determines how far our sites will go up in search engines' ranking - if you follow whitehat techniques, that is.

Now a days good researched keyword and good quality content centering that keyword is more important in SEO.

 

In the past, I thought content and backlinks are the most important ... After Panda update, I think that content is the most important.
