I thought "What are the kinds ... " was grammatically right because 'kinds' are in plural, so is "What are the types ... ".

    Right?

However, if you search in Google:

"what are the kinds" - 5,290,000 results
"what is the kinds" - 11,800,000 results

"what are the types" - 13,100,000 results
"what is the types" - 30,400,000 results

Which is really weird. Any idea why?

Well, the fact that "bootyliscious" now has an official definition in wikipedia, it doesn't really say a lot for our vocabulary anymore. The people using google search for "what is the type of"... is just silly.
