What Are The Good Reasons For Google Success In Search Engines, adsense, adwords, sitemaps, google Apis, froogle, etc?
Because before google came around, Webmail was less than 100MB, and search results were based on the amount of keywords stuffed in a single page. Heck, people were even using directories back then.
Many still do. Its the fastest way to get to information when doing specific research and you know what you are looking for. Peace,
Search Engine - content generated & cloaked pages. scrape RSS feeds and use them directly in your pages. keyword density of 25% and over ONLY. AdSense - place AdSense on top of content generated & cloaked pages. AdWords - use adwords to redirect to masked affiliate URLs. Sitemap - use sitemap generator to compile a sitemap for your content-generated websites which will contain millions of pages. Success is just a corner away. What other secrets do you want to know?
When Google first starting getting popular, it was known for delivering better results than the other search engines (read: Yahoo). From there, they got more users, and were able to add all the other goodies (gmail, etc.). But it all started with a good product, not with 1GB mailboxes or anything else.
It was the speed and accuracy of the results back in the day I was using metacrawler and it wasn't hard to switch to google once I found it.
And google was also one of the first. A bit like the user-driven sites that were here first. The minimal competition means they got all the custom - of course they can then build on that initial sucess.
initially google powered yahoo's search result apart from aol., This is their secret to success., WHen people searched yahoo, they came to know of google, then they thought why search through yahoo and directly started visiting google.,
Google as a brand I think is partly to do with their continued success. In the beginning, their engine was the best so they earned a reputation. I suppose its comparable to McDonalds or another food franchise (yes, there are plenty of McDonalds haters, but far more fans I'd say, ha), whenever they advertise some new food, its automatically assumed it must be good because its McDonalds, and usually it is good - but does that make it better than the home-made recipe's being created around the corner in the small family shop? I personally think google has definately created better searching, searching used to be appalling before they came around in my opinion. The problem is, they've basically put a trade embargo on all new sites. It's like a new Wal-Mart opening near you, all competition is crushed and goes out of business, but then suddenly Wal-Mart make it almost impossible to get in, ala Sandbox. It's too hard to get in Google now for most people and most competitive or semi-competitive terms which leaves it strictly the domain of highly skilled, patient, or financially advantaged SEO'ers, which is a shame.
