    50/50

If they are banned a lot of blogs will pop up offering the same thing in a different form. Or possibly more options such as V7N's contextual. It will be a hastle for a short while but business as usual I suspect.

i dont understand one thing ...

are you talking about Just one Paid Directory - than just as much any other site ..

and if you are talking about all paid directories ... than it will just destroy the business

If that were to happen in our case it would mean losing less than 10% of our overall traffic, if that amount of traffic cannot be compensated by other strategies and methods, then I guess anyone who cannot counteract that loss should not be running a directory business ;)

cant see they would ban paid directories
anyone with a paid directory should in time begin to offer more content not relating only to the listings
eggs in one basket and all
i think the fact that (if) you have a directory which you have built up with good content it will always be a good base to build a site on no matter which direction you take in the future

Please FULLY explain what happened and send us the link to your site
as the problem probably came from your end and you may have to request RE-inclusion
    for whatever happened......

    thx

I agree with you. If paid directories are to be banned by G, it has to ban Yahoo first which has a chance of 1 out of 1 trillion. Google knows what it wants and it knows --paid directories are helping it.

I also agree with Pete (britishguy) & discover. The revolution has already started --Paid directories are slowly moving away from just providing a listing to genuine content providers/portals. I can see it --the BUZZ-- and the new generation directories will become more than directories and transform themshelves into complete resource providers.:)

if google banned the paid directory, I think all paid directories will be closed or no business, yahoo directory will go free and all paid will convert to free.
this is what i am expecting...

btW: who said that google gona ban the paid directories?

    Exactly...........

DONT start spreading Bull comments or atleast unless you have proof of such as
Matt cutts himself said that as long as its paid reviews theirs NO PROBLEM...

When doing review editors must be wiery of whom they link with as it will reflect upon your directory

    thx

I am sure you know that banning causes all pages to go PR0. so it is not only about traffic from google.

I doubt they will ban any quality site selling advertisement.

I highly doubt its going to happen ever. But i think after Matt Cutt's post, we will be seeing such threads for long period of time.

Though Matt said himself in his updated post that Directories are OK but still when there is a smoke, some people want to see fire. :D

I agree with Pete here. If & only If it happens, those who will not adjust themselves according to this change are going to lose. But again, the chances are 1 out of 100000000000.
