    Depends on where you live and where your business is located.

    Most start with PayPal, 2co.com and Skrill - once they build a processing history they move over to a merchant account and a payment gateway provider.

    Paypal is very standard payment for any e-Commerce website.
    I will suggest 2Checkout for processing credit card. :)

    You really can't go wrong with PayPal. Not only does it accept all major credit cards and paypal accounts. But customers may also setup subscriptions (if your business offers subscription based products). Their fees are reasonable and depending on the amount of money you process with them they will lower your rate.

    I too from India ,Ian using 3 gateway in my website they are PayPal ,2co and payumoney. So this will help you to collect payments from Indian net banking and also 2co will do the international debit card processing And PayPal will support the rest

    Absolutely Good decision. Because the main Problem Indian Merchants face with PayPal is that it can't process domestic Payments from within India as per some policy restrictions by the Indian Govt.
