I'm constantly hearing people say that those who know the secrets of internet marketing a making a killing while those who don't will either fail or get very little results. Are there really internet marketing secrets or do people just fail to overlook the basics?
There are no secrets. There never have been, there never will be. It's all hard work, reading, studying, buying ads, getting word of mouth going, and sticking with it. That's how Askmen did it. That's how CraigsList did it. That's how PlentyOfFish did it. That's how.... The ones looking for "secrets," quick tips on a silver platter, while ignoring the above, like practically everyone here does, won't be successful. The ones who do the above and ignore the "secrets'' will be successful.
haha yep, just keep doing stuff. I see way too many people trying something once and then posting about how they just can't get it to work. Harden up people
I've got the secret... But you may not like it... The reason you may not like it is the same reason so many fail and few succeed... Ready? Hard Work Dedication Consistency Hard Work SEO Time Management List Management Reason for failure? Not utilizing at least 4 of those "secrets". Seriously, though... this is what it takes. Of course the basics are there if you just look through them enough. There's obviously ways to market correctly and ways to NOT market, too... there's proper SEO, proper use of PPC, etc... Nothing is a secret though! Hard work is the second ingredient... right after Education, of course!
In todays world of marketing RIGHT FRIENDS helps a lot. Lets say for example you have good number of friends who does digg submissions everyday. And now you have a new site need to promote. You ask your friends to help you on this. Your friends are very nice people helping you with Digg. Your new site gets a good boost. I wouldn't mention names but there are quite a few people who have had success like that. But thats just a part of the story. To be successful you also need a good site, dedication. If CraigsList wasn't useful, people would have care less about it. Sometimes we all hope to be lucky being in the right place right time. Otherwise we have to work our ass off to bring out the results.
Trial and Error are your best teachers !! (as a friend would say) read and learn and then apply what you have learned and then revise your methods.
Hi, I have to agree with some of these postings. The digital marketing is no longer the wild wild west of the old days in the 1990's. You can no longer just hit a button and register with 60,000 search engines, sit back and relax. Those days are long gone. The points made in the previous postings are certainly very true - bottom line it requires labor! Hard work for someone to site down in front of a computer and find multiple ways of promoting your website. Just like traditional marketing, there is no single answer that will create a gold mine. You have to diversify your efforts with a variety of methods - articles, news releases, forums, blogs, social media marketing in general, etc. Each of these will have a flurry of items amongst them. There is one item I can submit to you - sitemap marketing is one of many of these methods. You can read an article we wrote about Sitemap marketing at our website here: http://www.smartfindsmarketing.com/articles.php?p=articles_how_to_use_sitemaps Keep reading these and other webmaster forums and try out the suggestions submitted to you. Hope this helps.
The best kept secret about internet marketing, is that you don't talk about the best kept secret of internet marketing. Yea I know its a bad fight club parody quote, but its true. Google doesn't announce their algorithms for a reason. If people knew, then everyone would try to game the system. So the only true way of becoming an internet marketing phenomenon is to create something new, unique, and easy to use that catches on. Digg WAS a great idea. The Digg clones, like Mixx don't do well unless they offer something new/improved.
There absolutely aren't any secrets. All you have to do is find something that works and expand on it. That's how everybody [succesful] does it I'll Put it like this: Think About it, If you buy a Civic - it goes down in value, but if you buy a lamborghini; it will actually appreciate - you'll earn money as long as you take care of the car. If you invest in a bad website or a bad niche - You'll end up losing money; however, if you invest the time into finding something that works - that will be an asset to your online business, you'll earn money. The more lamborghini's you buy, the higher your "car show-room" - and you'll earn more money when you sell them all to someone else. You'll have more capital to buy an even greater amount of cars & sell them fore even more money - Rinse and repeat until you're a trillionaire The more successful ventures you invest in, the higher your "internet empire" - and you'll earn more money when you make sales on your website. it's simple - no secrets So basically, when it comes to internet marketing: You have to create your own lamborghini.
Lamborghinis appreciate? Why are used lambos cheaper than new ones? But I know what you're trying to say
