The users of Hostgator more and more often admit that they are asked to upgrade to a higher plans after buying unlimited shared hosting packages, as these plans are not so unlimited as this is given on the main page of the company. This is usually made when the guaranteed money back period is over. I found the following example in one of the feedbacks: " HostGator offer unlimited yearly plans which is clearly false advertising. The reason for this is that they start throttling your hosting service as soon as the money back Gaurantee period has expired)." In spite of these facts the company users mostly leave positive reviews on different forums, saying good words about the prices and the company discounts. As for the server performance, the users say that sometimes Hostgator servers can be overloaded, but in this case the support team quickly resolves the problem by transferring the site to a different server. I also know that the owner of the company personally corrects the work of the support department and can react to any abuse message quickly. The Average Support Wait Times ( via email, live chat and phone) can be seen on the picture below according to the investigation of WebhostingWatch:
Uptime – is an important indicator of website availability for visitors. Are you satisfied with their uptime? WebhostingWatch gives the following company uptime rates ( see the picture)
Uptime indicates the hosting's stability. It shows the percentage of time from the total observation period, during which the website was available to visitors. Website availability depends on the server's uptime and bandwidth of internet channels, through which the data centre is connected to the global network. The stable functioning of one's website is important, especially for commercial projects. If a popular web-portal, online store or web-service have 50-100 new visitors every minute, then any downtime period or slow page loading will result in a huge number of lost customers. For example, WebhostingWatch team observed uptime rates of sites, hosted at our TOP-10 hosting companies. Shared hosting has several websites of different customers on the same server. Therefore, for the accuracy of statistics, they selected 200 domains, hosted at each of the ten hosts in our ranking. To monitor the sites the following service were used: webhosting.info to choose these domains and mon.itor.us to gather uptime rates As a result, the average uptime rates for 200 sites from the TOP-10 rating can be seen in the picture below.
I would personally recommend Hostdime.com but they are a bit on the pricey side however, when I was with them I had no problems at all and loading times where pretty fast even though I'm in the UK. If hostdime is too expensive it could be a option to have a look at Hostgator however, there has been a few, recent, negative reviews of slow performance (which could be caused from overcrowding).
WebhostingWatch made created the ratio of postive and negative reviews judging by the information from . The results are the following: Judging by the diagram shown on the picture below ,the distribution of comments in separate categories is almost evenly. Due to this, we can see the general situation of the web hosting company - its services, pricing, technical assistance and the stability of the web site are on the same level. Consequently, the quality level of the company is stable.
