A couple of years ago I was using odesk and scriptlancer and was never really satisfied with what I got back. Since then I have heard alot people, dissatisfied with the quality they received so I started writing my own articles and I am now starting up a virtual assistance site which includes writing articles for $15 each. With multiple articles I do offer a discount.

I realize that this thread talks about getting articles written for five dollars and I also realize there are others out there that will do it for $6+ but I am a quality writer and I take my time and write a supreme article as if I am writing it for myself. The saying "you get what you pay for" applies here. I take pride in every word I type and my goal is for you to be proud of the words written as well.

I am brand new to this site as I came here searching for someone to do a graphic design for me and thought I would drop by a few other threads so, I am not sure of the rules at this point with regards to placing links in the posts. But, feel free to contact me if you would like more details about the services I provide or if I can help you out in any way.

    Robin :)

One thing for sure, don't go for GetAFreelancer. That is where all those 'cheep' writers hang out.

    Hi all...

"I rite gud 4 cheap" is real funny :) but still GetAFreelancer.com is a good site for getting good articles for "Cheap" ... ;)

A great place to look for real good authors is Constant Content

Elance is a great option. The feedback system and project history allows you to get a feel for the various writers. Also, there is a huge array of talent that is easily distinguishable. If you want to pay for premium content then you can find a writer there that can provide it. However, if you are looking for dirt cheap writing that is available too. With writing, you get what you pay for.

Have to disagree with you on that one! Not all writers at GAF or any other freelance site for that matter, promise or tell you that they write good in order to get your work and then don't provide. Granted, many do tell you that their work is immaculate and you end up finding that it has been copied and pasted from somewhere else or an article spinner is used. Another thing happens is sometimes people outsource to others in order to get the job filled and the quality is questionable. There are good writers on many of the freelance sites and while some of them might be overpaid, many are underpaid in order to keep the job lines open.

I am a member at many freelance sites and some of them require you to use your bids in order to connect with the buyer, these bids are also limited so if the project is canceled, the freelancer has to wait until the next month in order to bid. This can also cause the job to be lost for a potential long term writer for any client and vice versa. The task that any buyer should undertake is to throughly check out the writer and contactthem/converse with them as this is also important to find out exactly what the level of their expertise is. As for myself, I like to write amongst other stuff and it is just finding a fair buyer for my time and skills.

It always amazes me when people complain about getting crap articles in pigeon english for $2. What did you honestly expect to get for $2 an article? No self-respecting writer would EVER write 500 words for $2! I don't care if the wolf is at the door, the house is burning down and the kids are being sent off for scientific experiments to raise some cash! That's slave labor in anyone's book.

People try to exploit these "me rite cheap artcle 4 ewe" 'writers' offering them 2 bucks and hope to get away with it, and then bitch and whine when they get burnt. No one stops to consider that, hey, if I actually paid a writer what they're worth ie dollars = quality and experience - I'm going to get good stuff. Or, if I build up a good relationship with a number of writers I know and trust, I don't have to keep trying to exploit $2 writers and waste my time. Will it kill some of you out there to actually pay a MINIMUM WAGE of $7.50 per 500 word article? Even that's too cheap considering the time, effort and experience most serious writers put into their work. Is it going to break the bank to pay a fair wage for a good job done? Will it bankrupt anyone? Web designers get paid thousands of dollars by their clients, but as usual, the poor overworked and underpaid writer gets the shortest end of the stick.

So stop whining. In my opinion, you deserve what you get.

I've found that with just about any of the freelancing sites, the quality is commensurate with the pay. It might be a bit painful to pay $15 for a 500 word article, but that article will certainly outperform one you get for $2.

As an alternative, just do a Google search for "freelance writer". You'll find no shortage of results, I promise. That way, you can go directly to the freelancers' websites and assess their skills from there. Again, you probably won't get cheap content, but what you will get are high quality articles that can do wonders for your business.

I've been freelancing for nearly a decade, and have written three published fiction books, so I do have a bit of experience in this area. Seeking out freelancers on your own, or asking business associates for referrals tends to work out far better than going through the bidding process and hoping for the best.

I'd also be remiss if I didn't suggest you send me a PM with your project requirements. :)

Far's the exploitation of the writers goes, on a recent trip i had the opportunity to visit one of these so called "SEO" firms in a third world country, i saw how the writers worked and how they managed everything, it was rather surprising to see that such good work could be done so cheap in no time at all :) But hey, Don't take my word on it, just make sure that you get sample articles before you go ahead and agree on something. =]

I suggest that you try helium.com - you can hold a contest and choose from the articles that people submit, rewarding the best one. It doesn't come cheap though. If you want to pay less then $10 per article, forums like DP are the best places to find freelancers. Better still, try to buy pre-made articles - they tend to be cheaper.
