I use WF and elance mainly .. on elance at leasts there is some fear of bad feedback, so you'd probably get reasonable people

I'm just wondering, why did you selected that writer on the first place? If that's the way he wrote, you should be able to detect his English skills from his cover letter

    For me, Elance is great

Scriptlance is also good, but payment processing time is too long ( 5 to 7 days)

Well, there are good writers here in DP as well as other internet marketing forums. Why not check them out?

Not sure if this helps, but I like to ask for a sample BEFORE giving permanent work to anyone.

I also make specific requests within the job description, and then ignore their cover letter completely if people don't follow those requests (which is usually 60-70% of them, and a nice way to wade people out).

I actually love odesk - have used all the outsourcing sites, but like odesk the best because it's so QUICK and I've found so many helpful people on there!

I generally find people to write for right here at DP. Of course, there is always the risk of getting somebody who quite simply cannot write properly...

How much did you pay these writers? If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys.

Before starting a relationship with a freelancer, I think it is best to do a trial period first. Just to get a feel if the freelancer is in-synch with your requirements.

That's what I thought too. The cover letter would have given you an idea if the person has a firm grasp of the English language. If you award the job to that person despite his lack of proficiency, then you have no one to blame but yourself.

    My two cents.

I've found textbroker to be pretty good. Are there anymore sites like textbroker out there as I personally hate bidding sites. Too time consuming, I just want to get down to writing the project really.

Also I am a freelance content producer / article writer so if in need hit me up with your request and we can discuss more. Thanks.

You might also try the wahm.com forum - they have a section called WAHM's who write, and there are some pretty qualified writers there.

If you're willing to go the paid ad route, www.freelancewritinggigs.com posts ads - a lot of writers check here daily. Problogger's also a good place to post an ad. Not sure what your pay rate looks like, though.

I'll put my vote on elance and oDesk. I've worked with freelancers from both sites and so far, so good. Once you find the perfect writer, take good care of that person.

I knew only 5 to 6 quality freelancer sites, but after reading this thread I must confess, my knowledge was limited.

I found Odesk and Elance are too cost oriented. I offered writing services on there last year but most of the hits seemed to want words for nothing. I gave up in the end as I want to work with people who want quality, not the cheapest possible.

If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys. Don't expect too much for articles written at $2 a piece. Quality written articles have a price tag attached to it and it's not cheap.
