What are the basics?

I started making websites for fun but recently have gotten in domaining and site development as a fun, money-earning hobby.

I've made 2 decent website sales since I started earlier this year, however I haven't had any success actually monetizing a website yet.

I have a blog which receives a modest few hundred hits a day, so I put adsense banners in the sidebars but it only made a few cents a month lol.

I like selling sites but I would also love to try to build a small, passive income from sites I own without actually selling the whole site..

Has anyone got any tips on how to start, right down to the basics? Is putting adsense banners on your site the best way to get them to earn passive income? Or are there higher converting/higher paying methods people are using to gain a small, steady passive income from?

    Thanks for any tips!

Not the right sub forum for this non marketing related question, you may not get the attention you need to get it completely answered.

You may try selling something yourself through your sites instead.

Build a site around a product, either your own product(best idea) or an affiliate product, Optimize the site for said product's keywords, then figure out what promotion method you want to try, or try multiple and the scale up the method with the most response. Side note on your own product, you can get MRR or master reseller rights, or PLR or private label rights products and have your own product without having to slave to complete the pruduct.

    hope this helps,

Well, utilizing Adsense on one site isn't going to be as beneficial as Adsense on 10, 20, or 100 sites. A lot of individuals will create blogs, add content, and then move onto the next one. There are a few other things in between, but the more pages you have adsense, the more income you will make passively.

Try buiding a site and offering a product of your own , doing this will get you where you would want to be. Or like others said and you can offer a product from another company and use white lable or affilation more or like. Have you ever tried resellers? If not then look into this there are lots of stuff you could resell on the web one of them is "web hosting" but it dose take time...

also check out the free google keyword tool for the words you are trying to rank for .. it tells you a lot about the competition and how easy it will be to rank for them, it also gives you other ideas and how much you will get if you put adsense on (but that's another in depth discussion:)

Fantastic Question- I have found selling sites to be a lot easier than actually trying to moneotise them. You could try private adverts though. For a blog affiliates are great- recommend products to your readers- but you should have bought it yourself first.

AdSense can pay well if you have good traffic numbers. As your website grows, your earnings will grow. Continue to link build & engage your audience on social media.

Another good way is to find some good affiliate programs that you can promote.
