Hi, Can any one explain , What are the advantages of joing Co-OP Adv Network, I have 6 websites , 3 old and 3 new . i would like to CO-Op seton all of them Thanks Tulip
um, increased visitors, depending on the age of the site increased SE rankings, deeper indexing of course there is also a chance it could hurt your rankings as well, or the benefits might only last a minute you really have to try it to see, there are enought factors in rankings so that I don't anyone can really accurately perdict what will happen
As mentioned, the co-op can give you varied results. It seems to work best with MSN, and to a lessor extent yahoo. I have still not come to a conclusion on any benefit with google other than they seem to discount most of the backlinks and most do not pass significant PR. The co-op was designed as an "advertising network" but the co-op will give you backlinks to your site. These links appear on other sites that are also in the co-op. You will get some direct traffic from these links, although in my experience, the traffic is fairly low. The main benefit (imo) is the backlinks which will help your rankings with at least MSN (which is the least developed search engine and seems to take any backlink). Depending on your weight in the co-op, you can get a large number of backlinks (thousands). I believe too many links, too fast, can trip a filter with yahoo and google as it looks un-natural. Google has stated that incoming links cannot hurt your rankings I have seen the best results with older domains that already have established relevant backlinks. Depending on the co-op weight you have, I would suggest starting off by spreading the links over several sites and different pages. There is no way to control the exact number of backlinks per site and the same weight can give you large swings in backlinks on different sites.
I've actually found the opposite to be true. Since using the Coop my rankings have increased dramatically in Google but have done little with Yahoo/MSN. I do run this on a forum so the amount of content I have relevant to the anchor text is vast (and those pages are SEO's for that anchor text) but I also worked fairly slow in that I rarely go over 1000 impression per day for any one ad. In fact most of my ads run only about 500 impressions per day. At this point my Yahoo/MSN ranking are still not good at all but I rank top 10 in the keywords/anchor text for those same terms in Google and the amount of results those terms get ranges from 5 million to 50 million. Before running the Coop I was non-existant for all the terms. I've been running the Coop for a little over a month so I don't know if those rankings will stick but it seems so far the slower you go, the better you are in Google. That is just my obersation and is purely a guess.
The co-op takes 30 days to cycle through to full strength so it might not be enough time for MSN or Yahoo. My observations come from testing on about 30 sites and its hard to judge based on a single site. The MSN effect has been seen by almost everyone who has been in the co-op for quite some time. The co-op used to work well for google, but they have either changed their algorithm or filter out the links after some period of time - at least that is what I have seen. If you maintain your google rankings over the next few months, then I would be interested in hearing about it. Have you done any other linking that could be responsible for the google rankings? Returned results is also different that determining how hard it is to rank for a keyword. How many monthly searches does overture show for the keywords you are ranking well for?
No other linking other than what was there before I started (not that many). Overture shows between 50,000 and 85,000 for most of the keywords. (for Feb) I hope you're right about Yahoo/MSN. Up to this point 85% of my referrals are from google.
