    Links from irrelevant sites
Links from pages with no content
Links from sites with duplicate content

    Is not a simple process.
    Is time consuming process.
Please let me know if at any stage you require assistance :)

The most effective way of doing this would be to let the link research tool decide which backlinks
pose the potential threat to your website.

Apart from spam the link researching program can detect backlinks from possible blog networks
and banned IPs. Then you just run a detox and then submit the bad links to disavow.

If you need more concrete information let me know and I will point you in the right direction.

The links in blog comments are also spam links. You can use Google Disavow tool to remove spam links.

Links from unscrupulous websites with irrelevant or poor content. These links are usually mass produced by the thousands.

You can easily use the Google Disavow tool to discredit/nullify their effect. I once had friend whose site was penalized by Google because some idiots from Pakistan, India, and Russia put links of his website in disreputable websites by the thousands.

That is false. I still have good comments under blog posts which is relevant in my niche and brings small amount of traffic. Yes these comment was made manually, not using any auto comment software.

    Recommended action

First, review Google’s Webmaster Guidelines on linking.
Next, follow the steps below to identify and correct the violation(s):
Download a list of links to your site from Search Console. You can download your links arranged either by hostname (Links to Your Site > Who links the most > Download more sample links) or in chronological order (Links to Your Site > Who links the most > Download latest links).
Check this list for any links that violate our guidelines on linking. If the list is large, start by looking at the sites that link to you the most, or links that were created recently (in the last few months).
For any links that violate our guidelines, contact the webmaster of that site and ask that they either remove the links or prevent them from passing PageRank, such as by adding a rel=”nofollow” attribute.
Use the Disavow links tool in Search Console to disavow any links you were unable to get removed.

ugh no, just because the link is on a non-related site, doesn't imply it's a spammy link. it's a ridiculous notion to think that your backlink profile should only consist of links from relevant websites. that is not how the world wide web works.

as mentioned earlier - link detox http://www.linkresearchtools.com/tools/dtox/ is a great tool for identifying spammy links. It's the closest thing out there to google's algorithm.

You can find people on fiverr to run a link detox for your site them simply make a disavow.txt with the high risk links, upload them to your webmaster tools disavow dashboard and you are good to go :)

You should use Google Webmaster Tools link report, download all the links and go through each one manually. You may also use a third-party link tool like Majestic SEO, Raven Tools, SEOmoz (now Moz) or others to get a more complete picture of your links. You can also use Bing Webmaster Tools. Either way, the best way to do it is to go through each one manually and disavow the bad ones. It's time consuming for sure, but it's worth it.

How did you figure out you had spammy links? That would be a good place to start removing them. Here's an example of some spammy links on a blog post.

Most of the comments in blog posts are spammed and you can notice it in different blog sites. Can you provide a proof to support your post regarding good comments and getting few traffic?

Unfortunately that kind of thing happens a lot on the Internet. There isn't much you can do to stop it.
