Hey guys, I'm new here and I decided to sign up after I saw an insane amount of good information I could use.:D

Anyone, I'm interested in websites where you can submit your site and it can win an award for being the best designed, etc.

    Some examples are:
    www.mamboawards.com
    http://www.mydesignaward.com/
    http://www.sunjpg.net
    www.e-creative.net
    http://www.joomlaawards.com/

These are pretty much free to enter. There are many others on the net where you have to pay around $50-$300 to enter.

Anyone know of any other free ones?

ROFL these sites are just hoping you'll put their big shiny badge on your site and give them a homepage link to theirs.

I get 'awards' for our software all the time. do I display them, hell no.

If you have a vB forum you're welcome to try to get into the top 100 at my directory (see sig) but, right now, I don't have a shiny award to give you if you do - nor do I expect a link back or $$$

We aren't looking to plaster their awards on our site, but it is something good to put in the press section AND if your featured on their website it may bring more traffic. I will submit my forum as well, thanks.

personally i feel that they just want a linkback from good quality site to their award site.

but if that award site always have good quality site over there, it is nice to be included and if they bring traffic to you, i dont i mind to link back to them.

Thanks for the info. Not too worried about flashy little trinkets, but it helps with search keyword exposure because most of 'em allow you to give a description of the site.

"Awards" are so 2002. The Golden Web Award was one of the first, then loads of sites seemed to hop on the bandwagon.

One of the few awards of note is the Webby, purely because it usually gets mentioned on the TV. Plus, anything that comes with a big, shiny award cup (not just a graphic) and a champagne reception, and ideally some actual cash. Otherwise it's just another link, and a reciprocal link at that.
