What are quality backlinks?

    1) Create press release
    2)Build links from relevant websites
    3)The most natural way is to create interesting content
    4)Submit your site to directories like Dmoz or Yahoo Directory.

    I think that option 1 is actually what is a quality link, because if your site has no traffic you have wasted all of your time & money.

    How can I find the number of backlinks?

    Everything people said is exactly right, but to actually determine if a link is quality check out where the site is ranked in Google for what they are targeting. Check their title and the contents of their site and do a Google search for those terms. If they are unranked, it is likely not a quality site and therefore not a quality link.

    Also, to check back links your best bet is Yahoo Search Explorer. Here's the link for that: http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/

    The rest is trial and error my friend. You'll get it!
