What are PLR articles?

I see people selling and give away PLR articles in the sell trade forum. I mean wouldn't you get sue by the owner of the articles if you post them on your site? If not, will google penalize the site since the articles are probably duplicate?

(Private Label Rights) articles are not valuable till you RE-write them, especially when you want to put them into your blog.

Google "private label rights" for more details.

    They are worthless junk ;)

Every PLR article out there has been distributed so much that search engines just ignore them.

    shulink,

Private Label Rights (PLR) articles convey rights that allow you to claim the article as your own.

The most valuable PLR articles are well-written and have extremely low distribution. The downside is that high quality, limited distribution PLR articles are very expensive.

At the other end of the spectrum are the mass distributed free and very low cost PLR articles the pervade the Internet. Their quality ranges from unintelligible gibberish to decent, considering cost.

Does this make them useless trash? Yes and No. Useless trash if you post them right out of the box. Valuable if you're willing to put in some effort.

I use free PLR articles as "article seeds". It's a lot easier to write an article when you have at least something to go on. However, other than having the same topic, my finished articles read nothing like the seemingly worthless clump of words from which they initially evolve.

Where do you find free PLR articles? If you're going to pay for them, how much would you pay for say 500 words?

They are basically article which you can claim as your own Never use them "as is" since they are almost always very poorly written. They are also mostly being used by numerous other sites.

Thanks I figured them out. I went through and downloaded them from a site and have started going through them. Talk about work. I only downloaded from the one site, but so many of the articles were duplicated in other "packs"! At least the groupings of articles give me a starting point. Many of the ones I've downloaded are from 2006, so needed re-written just because the info is so old.

Still trying to figure out how you make money from them :-( I'm begining to feel quite dense in that area. I have a URL that I basically ignored over this last year, I was going to dump the URL, but when I checked the hit rate, it was getting hundreds of hits a month (with practically nothing on it). I'd love to figure out how to turn that into something that could generate revenue. I'm going to re-write a block of the PLR articles and throw them up... but them I'm lost again.. dang, I'm starting off slow for 2009.
