    I’m interested in starting a site but don’t have that much coding experience and few days ago saw an article about PHP frameworks. From what I can understand it’s like CMS but only a Template. Can anyone explain and help me get more info on this. Thanks for the help.

    Usually a framework is a way of seperating Logic from Presentation. A framework isn't a CMS. A CMS is a way of storing and updating the stuff to be presented.

    What I mean by Logic is:

    <?php
    if $a=1
    { $action = 'crosses road' }
    else
    { $action = 'stays put' }
    ?>

    Code (markup):
    Presentation would be:

    <template>
    <p>My doggie <?= $action ?>.</p>
    OR
    <p>My doggie <?php echo $action ?>.</p>
    </template>

    Code (markup):
    Woodside gave you a pretty good link. However, I think you need more of a definition.

    So anyways. A framework is a way of structuring code, or a way of separating Logic from Presentation.

    Let me know if that helps.
    Unless it's a large project or you are a professional developer, you more than likely make up your own framework as you go along.

    That was the article I red Woodside but it didn’t explain exactly what it was. I thought it was a CMS like Joomla but just the front end on a site “PHP Script”. If it’s like Meikeric said then it is way over my head. I want a simple CMS, script or even WP template that enables the reader to post content on the front page. The site would only have one page like a blog. So to use Joomla wouldn’t be my first option. Sadly the only example of what I want was the site http://igotscrewed.net/ but it has been down for the past week.

    If you are looking for a simple CMS with comment features, go Wordpress. Easy Install, easy Admin, easy update features.

    That's what I think I'll do. It´s easier and WP has all the extras needed to make it a good site. It doesn't have to be very complicated anyway.

    ok frameworks are sort of like collections of libraries

    a cms is a bit more than that

    for example i have my own php5.1.2 framework, ontop of it i coded several cms's

    using these cms's i can make sites like theres no tomorow...

    I found this blogging software (CMS) Serendipity that is very simple to use and has a good amount of plugins. I think that by creating a good template I will be able to get what I want.
