I used to be co owner of a blog design business. I found that we found clients simply by interacting with other bloggers, leaving comments and just networking with other designers. That's blog design specifically but that should give you some ideas. :)

Lots of work. Craiglist, blogs, forums, online ads and Facebook are free ways. Cheap media buying and solo ads are good if you have any capital to invest. Better to buy a cheap but good course on how to use media buying/solo ads before doing it though.

If your work is good, partner with a Web host! They can refer clients to you as most hosts are constantly getting requests for design services in addition to hosting and other technical services.

Thanks guys for the helpful responses.

How do you partner with a host? What hosts offer partnerships?

You can use social media, forum marketing, blog marketing and other internet marketing ways to make traffic for your website.

A mate of mine gets most of his work from word of mouth. Do a good job at a good price and the word will spread. The more value you can provide the better. Word of mouth is the cheapest and one of the most powerful tools available to you. Always guarantee your customer is 100% satisfied. It can take a long time to build up a good reputation, but you can get a bad one in seconds. I wish you all the best!

The first thing you need to do is create a good portfolio detailing your skills then register an account on sites like oDesk, Elance, vworker and Fiverr. On these sites you are more likely to get jobs. You also need to create a site and share your expertise within no time people will start to contact you for jobs.

    All the best.

I would suggest Craigslist & other classifieds sites .

But if you want fast results i 'd highly recommend you to start cold calling or if you aren't confortable with that & have a small budget you can hire a telemarketer to do it for you .

You can start having a dedicated portfolio, and show these in person to get real referrals in person. You can go start by "meet up.com" and find something related like wordpress workshops and partner up.

    Wise words.

Word of mouth is probably the best marketing in this industry. One client is all it takes - just make sure your work is good, stick to yor promises and impress your clients - and you will be successful.

Find out different categorise of website and find out that what you can design to make it better then use email marketing service to buzz your email to them base on categories by suggesting thing what you can do for them and turn them to sales.
Conversion from email quite good because easy to interact with the website owner by email
